“Unique museum-well worth while”
Reviewed October 8, 2011

This museum was a booming brothel during the gold rush in cripple creek., It is a unique view at how the west was won! It is one of three brothel museums in the United States. Pearl De Vrie was famous in her day, and when she died it the largest funeral procession in the history of Colorado. There were thousands of people, and a brass band that played a dirge on the way to the cemetary, and on the way back to Cripple Creek, they played "There will be a hot time in old time tonight:".

“Worth a Visit”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

This brothel museum is interesting but what makes it truly worthwhile are the two ladies whose commentary makes the tour come alive. They tell the stories as though they have personal knowledge of the women and their guests. The cost was $5 and our tour lasted about an hour.

“A neat slice of history....”
Reviewed July 19, 2011

The history of the prostitution trade in this bawdy mining town is played out in all it's glory at this museum.

We thought the museum appropriate for most ages. Fortunately, the historical storytelling has not been whitewashed. We found the tour most interesting and is an interesting diversion from the casinos.

Worth your while.

“This is NOT appropriate for pre-teens”
Reviewed June 24, 2011

We took our friends children, boy 10 and sister 12, to the museum after touring the active gold mine and the jail museum in Cripplecreek. The reviews made it sound like an interesting addition to understanding life back in those days. I specifically called and asked if the tour would be appropriate for a 10 and 12 year old, and I was told the tour "was very discreet" and would not be inappropriate for that age group. This was not the case and I would strongly discourage anyone to bring anyone underage to this museum.

For adults, it was a very interesting glimpse of the times and the original furnishings were resurrected from the basement by the family that bought the brothel and lived in it for a time before turning it into a museum.

“A must see if you are close to Cripple Creek, Co”
Reviewed May 12, 2011

The ladies who give this tour do such a great job painting a picture of what life was like during this time period and working in the brothel. The home itself is very impressive and so many of the items are originals from when Pearl ran her brothel. We made a special trip back to Cripple Creek when this was open (it was only open on the weekends when we went in May) just to tour this museum and were so glad we did.
