“Fun ghosthunting overnight”

A group of 14 of us made reservations and shared the cost to stay overnight at the jail for a ghost hunt. Michelle, the jail manager was fantastic to work with and very accommodating. She provided our group information about the ghosts and took us on a tour of the basement. Then she let our group wander the jail the entire night. We split up into two groups checked out each floor with our ghosthunting equipment. One of the groups got EMF readings in the red at each floor while the other group had no readings at all. Michelle then took pictures of our group for "Wanted" posters for prices that were almost free....yes, almost free per person. The pictures turned out great and were everyone's favorites. We each picked our our own jail cell to bunk down and had a quiet night (no hauntings). We all had a fantastic time. An overnight ghost hunt at the Cripple Creek jail is a must do.

This jail museum allows visitors to freely explore the cells and other areas of this old jail. Black and white striped jail wear is provided for guests to don for picture opportunities. Staff is friendly. Gift shop prices are reasonable. Great historical I formation is provided throughout the site. Highly recommended.

Two story jail, with an addition for the women and children. Six hammocks in one tiny cell, going down to bunk beds, going down to some single cells. And that place was open until 1992?! Depending on the size of the town. Some exhibits of guns, knives, brass knuckles, explanation of the 6 mph 'speed limit' for horses. And the union/privately owned wars.

I happened to be back in Cripple Creek on a veterans motorcycle event and visited the old jail. I was impressed and they have done a good job with the museum itself.

The museum is super nice and the owner is so very informative and friendly. Take the time to walk through and read the informational panels. The price is more than fair and well worth a stop to see it and support the museum.
