Midnight Rose Hotel and Casino
Ranked #6 of 10 Hotels in Cripple Creek
Reviewed May 21, 2012

I compared all the hotels in Cripple Creek: prices, amenities, etc. My goal was to have a nice, all-inclusive getaway for my hubby's birthday. We arrived, checked in quickly, and had a very nice dinner at the JP McGills Pub (thank you Midnight Rose for the discount on our meals). We had a blast at the casinos, meandering through town as we pleased from one casino to another. We enjoyed the Pub at McGills so much that we went back to hang out and have a drink. Their waitresses were the best! Very excellent service, personable, and acted like they were glad we were there. We had a very clean queen-bed room (which overlooked the back of the building, but I was not there for the view, so I didn't care). It was extremely quiet although the hotel was completely booked. We had such a good time, and it was absolutely worth the money. We will definitely be back! Again, the McGills pub was probably the highlight of our stay...the food, service, and prices were all excellent.

The room was a bit on the small side but it was clean and in good condition. The bed was comfortable. The water got hot and didn't make me feel like a slip&slide. The video poker machines were a pleasant surprise because you didn't have to keep feeding them. The drink service was excellent, asked if the coffee was fresh and fellow said "If you can wait five minutes it will be." It was fresh and had a good flavor. Yeah, I knew it was fresh because I could smell it while it was brewing. Dynamite Dick's staff is really great for a casino/hotel restaurant. Cooks knew what they were doing, the food was hot and properly prepared. The menu had a good variety to select from.

We stayed 2 years ago (late on getting review in). Room was a little small, but for the price, it was worth it. We had fun gambling, drinking, and eating the entire evening. We would stay there again when we plan our next trip.
The only down side, is that they would not let you check in until the exact time they say. We rode a motorcycle all morning to get there and we wanted a place to put our luggage from our bike. So we just sat and waited. :(

Was able to get a king room overlooking the main street in Cripple Creek the Thursday before the Labor Day weekend. The reservationist really worked hard to find the room. Check-in is at their co-owned property. You pick up the luggage cart there, then walk through their parking garage to the entrance of the Midnight Rose. The room was spacious, and well appointed. Very clean. Plenty of towels. Flat screen TV. Sink in the main room, which was ok; shower and toilet in separate room. Individual cup coffee maker provided. Was given credit vouchers of $5.50 for any meal in their coffee shop, which covered breakfast the next morning. Staff very friendly. Check in was quick and easy. Would stay here again.

The rooms looked like they were out of the 60s, everything was dark and dingy and there was a vomit stain on the back of my co-workers door. Man, if people think this is a getaway then a Courtyard must blow their minds.

Stay up the hill at the gold king or whatever, it seems newer, cleaner and cheaper.

My husband and I stayed in the Safari suite at the Midnight Rose. The room was huge- a fireplace, double-headed shower, 2 TVs, a jacuzzi, etc. The price was also very affordable, especially for all the amenities (they even included a bottle of champagne). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside to the hotel is the location. Cripple Creek is an exteremly small town made up almost entirely mediocre casinos. It's also located in the valley of a bunch of mountians so the drive was a bit scary at times with the roadside drop-offs. We also had a very scary experience driving back one night- it was extremely foggy and we couldn't see about 5 feet in front of the car. The mountain drop-offs were about 100x scarier in the dark and masked by the fog.

Everything about this Casino Hotel and its location was absolutely brilliant and I could not fault anything. The Hotel staff were efficient and ultra-helpful, the restaurant, superb and the town, absolutely charming. It's on my list of MUST RETURN towns.
