“Nice place to stay”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

We had a great time and loved this hotel. The staff were very curtious and accommodating. The pool area was a bit small and crowded, but nice. Ive read a lot of people complaining about not having A/C, but c'mon people, this is Colorado in the mountains!!! Just open your door and you'll get a nice breeze!
The rooms were nice and new feeling, clean and well insulated. We did'nt hear any other people walking by or closing doors.
The biggest plus was were very close to the ski lifts. We loved going up the mountain and hiking up the mountain!

Our experience at the Elevation Hotel was wonderful. Clean, comfortable, casual luxury, convenience and super friendly staff. Look forward to going back! Summer access to mountain recreation, restaurants and shopping is unmatched.

Not a good choice! It felt like the Elevation Hotel was TRYING to ruin our vacation, again and again. The A/C during the summer is monitored by opening a sliding glass door, and hopefully you'll have a screen door (we didn't until we complained enough to get moved to another room). They had the wrong dates for our reservation. They had hidden fees that were never apparent until they were listed on our bill, such as parking fees! Charging their guests to park is very bad form. Some sort of fire alarm (or something) went off at 4:45 in the morning, and then stopped just as we were getting dressed. Other than a quick, convenient and decent enough breakfast buffet (even though the waiter never acknowledged our presence until he brought us the bill) there is nothing that will get me to stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Don't fall for the description for a "Courtyard" room as if they have one - they don...

Please be aware--NO AIr Conditioning and poor air movement in the rooms. Might be fine in the fall or winter but terrible with any type of warm weather. Check your final bill for unwarranted "add ons", resort fees, parking, additional taxes...Pool is kiddie at best. Grand Lodge a much better stay.

Room Tip: Grand Lodge in place of Elevation

I am so sorry that your stay at the Elevation did not meet your expectation. As is common in most mountain resorts where night time temps are generally in the 40's, our hotel does not have air conditioning and this can be an adjustment for guests used to having A/C in their homes. Our pool is relatively small, but we are in the process of installing two brand new hot tubs on the outdoor patio (with fabulous mountain views!) adjacent to our spa and fitness center and we hope to have these open for guests by mid-August. I hope you will return again to Crested Butte - maybe for a skiing vacation? - and enjoy the convenience of our ski-in/out access to the slopes.

Kind regards,

Lynn Kiklevich

The Elevation Hotel & Spa has nice large, newly decorated rooms. Staff was wonderful. Location is the best. We didn't have any children with us, but this is a very kid friendly place. It was fun watching the kids do their activities. Many summer activities. Next time we will bring our bikes to go down the mountain. Did a lot of hiking. Do drive the dirt roads to see the fabulous wild flowers. One of the prettiest places we have ever been to. We were there in mid July. Rooms were a little hot at night because there is no A/C.

Don't eat at "9380". View and service were great, but food was awful! Quality of food poor. Processed cubed chicken in nachos was tasteless. Chicken wings were not fully cooked and skin was rubber. Hot wings sauce was out of a can and blue cheese dip had no blue cheese in it. We left the food, it was so bad we could not eat it.

Summer at the Crested Butte is an experience. The whole town is bustling with activity. My husband and I stayed one night at this hotel. The room we had was spacious, roomy and had a small kitchenette, which was perfect for a couple on a road trip. The bed was really comfortable. As we checked in we were told we were invited to a wine tasting....for free! What a nice welcoming idea. It was not really a wine tasting, but a choice of house red or white. Don't get me wrong, because it was a perfect gesture, just the same, to be able to relax in the lobby with fellow travelers.

We had dinner at the restaurant, which was quite good. The outside deck for dining is great. Our room also included a lift ride up the mountain, which is in walking distance of the hotel. The wildflowers were in bloom and the day was glorious, who could ask for anything more for a mountain stay!

Room Tip: Dogs are allowed at this hotel.

Booked a room expecting a classy experience at a spa for our engagement. After parking in a building (extra $$$) nowhere near the check-in, we ended up with a room right above the late night bar with no A/C and blaring music all day (so no use opening windows to cool off). After voicing our concerns, we were offered a room down the hall ,which would have put us in the room right next door (also right next to the bar, an all day mediocre cover band, and a relay race finish line compete with hamburgers and climbing wall). We love Crested Butte and may get married here, but you can do better than this hotel. May be a great resort for families visiting Colorado or those that want to zip line (literally) right outside their room, but a crap spa for anyone looking to get away, relax, and see one of the most beautiful places in the state.
