My husband and I stayed at The Ruby after a friend had referred it to us. I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. The owners were so friendly and went out of there way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The Ruby is within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants and is dog-friendly. I'd highly recommend The Ruby to anyone visiting Crested Butte.

We just returned from a wonderful one night stay at the Ruby and found it lived up to all of the great reviews that it has received. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and made us feel right at home. We loved taking our shoes off and walking on the plush immaculate carpet barefoot. We stayed in room #4 which we found to be quite comfortable after a day of hiking. We also took advantage of their indoor hot tub along with homemade chocolate chip cookies. Andrea and Chris were very helpful with sightseeing and dinner recommendations. The best part was waking up to the smell of homemade sticky buns and dutch apple pancakes the next morning. We are looking forward to a return visit to the Ruby in the near future.

We’ve stayed at a few different places in CB, but the first time we arrived at the Ruby, it felt like our own home…..

The cleanliness and hospitality of the establishment is noticed the moment you take your shoes off, kick back with a cookie and a hot chocolate, and watch the powder come down. You’ll find that the rooms are immaculate. Quality linens, quilts, and a lot of great fluffy pillows, to make sure you get the one you’ll prefer. And not only you, your pup will equally be taken care of with a setup of their own. The Ruby allows dogs in a big way, but you sure wouldn’t know it. Such an incredibly clean place run by true dog lovers may deserve even more credit than any other B&B or hotel that doesn’t allow pets. So if your flying solo it may still be the place of choice.

The breakfast has character and fulfillment to get you started on a day in a town that shares both of those attributes. Cinnamon rolls, soufflés, espresso, great eggs, and fresh peaches – to name a few. Later in the year (yes – we are returning customers), when all that powder disappears and the ravages of winter have past, wildflowers bust out and the back deck becomes a good place to wind down. Perhaps then evaluating dinner options before grabbing a few of the provided cruisers and heading off a few blocks to town.

After winters of at least 30 below temps. and snow depths taller than stop signs, it’s hard to picture such a good space could emerge and be so well taken care of. Chris and Andrea are great, genuine people that put a lot of heart into their business, and it shows.

The Ruby is a very pleasant B&B, largely as a result of the extremely friendly and personable young couple who own and operate it. If they move on to bigger things, it may change.
Their policy of no shoes inside can be annoying, especially in a place that welcomes dogs. But they are right that Gunnison County likes to use Magnesium Chloride on their dirt roads (like the beautiful Kebler Pass shortcut to Carbondale/Aspen). That stuff is bad for cars, murder on motorcycles, and harmful to people.
The breakfasts are outstanding and creative, common areas are nicely decorated, and the building is more like a small inn.
The rooms are quite small but comfortable.
The location is convenient, at the south end of the town, easy to walk to everything, but the immediate area around the house is quite average and without character.
Nice touches are the free bikes to use in town, and a pretty backyard.
C.B. is a cute old mining town, with some good restaurants, and the hosts made excellent suggestions. People in town were friendly and laid-back.
Easy to recommend The Ruby.
