If you're looking for a home-away-from-home feel when you're in CB, you will LOVE this B&B. Chris, the Innkeeper, makes sure you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. The Inn is charming from top to bottom, from the shared spaces to the individual rooms. My room had a double bed (and comfortable pillows!) with plenty of warm blankets and a cheerful country quilt. The main room has a cozy couch and deep, comfortable chairs facing a glass-front wood burning stove - we spent some quality time snuggled in there, munching on snacks and reading the interesting variety of magazines provided. The kitchen is accessible all day for an assortment of cold and hot beverages and fresh-baked snacks. There is an on-site massage room where we had wonderful massages after our first day of skiing. The Inn is in a great location - close to the bus to the mountain, a 10 minute walk into the quaint downtown, on a side street so little traffic.

Best of all, though, is Chris, who cooked delicious breakfasts and also made sure we had what we needed to make our stay special - easy directions to the bus up to the mountain, stories of the town's and Inn's history, recommendations for dinner, a ride to CAT skiing at 6:45am in -20 degree weather, Really unbelievable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the hallway, upstairs, have fewer guests pass by.

This wonderfully cozy B & B is the place to stay in Crested Butte . We came to CB to ski as well as CAT ski and we usually stay on the mountain and made the smart decision this year to stay in town . Transportation to the mountain couldn't have been any easier from this B&B. We had to leave extra early on those CAT skiing mornings and Chris would come in early to cook us up his amazing breakfasts . Not only that - Chris then took it upon himself to drive us to the CAT location in -20 degree weather . Do I need to say more ??? Well , I do ! The living room space with the wood burning stove is a room that you could just chill and hang out . Serious home away from home feel especially with the kitchen situated right next to it stocked with home made goodies at all times along with your choice of half a dozen cold or hot beverages . One more thing - the bed and pillows ( very important) were incredibly comfortable . Chris and his family are just the type of people to own and run a B&B - amazing job .

I can't say enough good things about this inn, or Chris the innkeeper.
Lovely, cozy B&B with a log fire on the go most of the time. Delicious homemade gourmet breakfasts. Hot chocolate bar with home made cookies for après ski, hot tub on the back deck....and walking distance to pretty much everything.
Chris knows the town and restaurants well and will steer you in the right direction for just about anything you want to do around town.
Our visit to CB was so much better for staying here - thanks Chris!

The wife and myself, plus Bailey the Dog (yes, they are dog friendly) found the property to be very laid back and comfortable. There is a woodburning fireplace in the lobby, a snack available (cookies or brownies) in the kitchen and an ice maker. Parking is available in the front and rear of the building and Chris will explain the alternate parking schedule. The Twin Buttes room has a comfy queen size bed and a couch plus a private bath with shower. Extra blankets, bath robes and a space heater were also in the room. The rooms were quiet, unless the neighboring room decides to shower at midnight (minor annoyance).
As most reviewers have noted, Chris in the consummate host: full of local information and recommendations, weather savvy, there when you need him and just a phone call away if he is not on the property. And the breakfasts? Well thought out and prepared, with Chris serving and describing each dish.
The hot tub, located on the back deck, was welcome after a day of winter activities. The property is located a block from the free Ski Area Shuttle and is about a 10 minute walk to the center of town. The hiking trail to Mt. Crested Butte starts just at the end of the block.
Gracious hospitality and convenient location makes the Purple Mountain Lodge a strong recommendation.

I know the title takes some living up to and sure it's a tad over the top, but to the wife and I the Purple Mountain is the simply the best. Chris is the most charming, wonderful, host who can't do enough for you if required, but will leave you to your own devices if not. (He doesn't live in the B&B). The old traditional house is warm, cosy and always spotlessly clean. We always stay in the Teocalli Room, which is the most expensive and lacks a view of the mountain, but it's like having your own apartment and the bed is something else. It's a huge, comfort blanket that would be impossible to get out of if Butte Mountain didn't beckon us every morning. It's also closest to the hot tub.

I don't want to say too much, because if you enjoy staying in B&Bs you should discover what an incredible little gem this place is for yourselves. Though I should mention that Chris' breakfast are legendary, and for other British guests, grilling means lightly fried in the US of A!

Chris the owner clearly loves his "job" running and cooking for this beautiful B&B. He had recommendations for every local restaurant, for quick-bite or full entree, when to predict the bus stops for shuttle up the mountain and for activities that even non-skiers can do. In addition, and impressive to me: local weather reports mixed with his own higly-honed instincts on what to predict (like how to judge thermal "inversions" of temperature fluctuation) for the postage stamp area in which he's standing. Amazing knowledge of local history, and recommendations of where to learn more.

Then there were the BREAKFASTS! Chris Haver is a foodie hard-core extraordinaire, although humbly disguised as just a nice guy in a chef's livery. We had healthy balanced breakfasts each day, lovingly assembled and, upon serving, expertly described in the style of a right proper butler: "Blue corn flour panakes mixed with local Colorado white flour and blueberries, maple syrup infused with orange and......etc.etc." I was salivating before he completed the first sentence.

On room recommendations: I saw only three of the rooms, all of which are very homey and comfortable. I had chosen the Red Lady Room, smallest one, knowing I would be spending all my time outdoors, and needing only a place to lay my head at night. It was perfect, right at the top of the stairs, where the small fridge and microwave were; good for quick-robed step-outs for tea, without having to dress and go downstairs for the more elaborately hospitable kitchen area. And although I wouldn't have thought to look for such a feature, I really liked having the private bathroom out of view of the room's doorway, such that I could feel open to the rest of the house by leaving it open and not closed in. The other two rooms I saw also had this layout.

All in all, a wonderful trip, made more so by the perfect accommodations at the Purple Mountain! Thank you!

Location is great along with the service. I can only imagine the spring wildflowers blooming around it but we came for the snow and skiing nearby but didn't want to be in a Condo....but loved the hot tubs and the extras with homemade brownies!
Delicious home cooked meals made the dining a pleasure and the advice and informaiton from the hosts made you really feel more than just a guest.
