“Great food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

Spent a wonderful evening getting to know the staff and owner of this wonderful restaurant in downtown Crested Butte,
We were wondering around town looking for something with atmosphere and came across Bacchanale. We were greeted at the door by Cricket, the hostess and Chris the owner. Both were extremely friendly and accommodating. We were seated at a little table upstairs and were immediately served by Dan( the greatest waiter in the world). Dan helped us select our wine and recommended the roasted Chicken, which was deliciously prepared. We ordered 1/2 a chicken along with the arugula salad as well as the chopped salad, and shared for 2. It was the perfect dinner. The price was good, the food was wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a fun place to have a good dinner,

“Tuscany”

As good as or better than some in Tuscany this fall! Flatbread and salad is a meal. White beans and boar sediment.

“New owners, much improved!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

The owners of Django's have take over the running of the Bacchanale and it's a significant improvement! The food is terrific, wine choices are excellent, the atmosphere has a refreshing new look and the price point is very reasonable. The restaurant is a wonderful addition to downtown Crested Butte.

“Our favorite experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

My husband, son and I had enjoyed a cocktail at the bar on Christmas night after hearing about the restaurant up on the slopes. We were so enchanted by the place that we decided to return the following evening for dinner. It was much busier the next evening, and a bit chaotic, but we were indulgent as we knew it was under new management and finding its "legs".
We were greeted at the door and made to feel welcome immediately. We knew about the menu from the night before so we were prepared- there was much to pick from, almost tapas-style on the front of the menu (like their sister place, Django, up in Mt.Crested Butte, owned by the same outfit, where we dined on Christmas Eve- more about that in a separate review), with more standard-size choices of entrees on the back of the menu. The emphasis is on Italian fare, but not your hackneyed tomato-sauce-overload type of cuisine- they have a light hand at what they do. We chose a couple of cheeses to start, a pecorino and a bufala mozzarella, showcased on a piece of slate, accompanied by a dollop of delicious chutney. The portions could have been slightly larger but they were delicious. Next we had the boar sausage and white beans, the pappardelle with taleggio and crimini mushrooms, and the meatballs. All three were excellent.
The wine list is pleasant,Italy-centric, and not overbearing- we had an excellent Pinot Grigio and a red blend, served Italian style in quarto-sized carafes.
We didn't try the desserts,as we were very full by that time but I was tempted by the hazelnut gelato or the affoggato. Maybe next time!
Very pleasant ambiance and delightful service. We could tell that this place is a work in progress but one full of love.

“Christmas Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

Our family of four had a lovely dinner here on Christmas night. We had a welcoming reception and a friendly waiter (his first night). We felt the menu was maybe not straightforward enough and wondered if it was fashioned more after the tapas style of the other restaurant. The menu was broken into sections like: flatbreads, side dishes, large plates, salads (some entree size), build your own bruschetta, and desserts. We shared a delicious flatbread and two others at our table had the Brussels sprout salad and the 'mock' Caesar salad. We asked for a definition of mock Caesar and was given the explanation of a non traditional Caesar incl. citrus in the dressing. It was a very light dressing, anchovies, and French fried croutons.
We ordered the eggplant pillow side which was enough to share...also delicious. Just wasn't aware this side would be enough to share but it was all a good thing. One of us ordered the linguini w/ clams in parchment. Not a huge portion but very good. Another ordered Tuscan white beans with wild boar sausage...also a hit. Two of us ordered half a chicken which was accompanied by a tablespoon of tomatoes and a tablespoon of greens. The chicken was uninteresting with little flavor. The breast portion was not overcooked while the leg and thigh portion were red at the bone area.
All of the food was very good but would not get the chicken again.
