Description: django's is a locally owned restaurant in Crested Butte, with a seasonal menu of globally inspired small plates. This culinary adventure offers a fun dining experience best shared with friends: the plates are brought one at a time, for everyone to taste more than 20 different selections on the weekly menu. The wines are served by quartino (250ml) carafe, to allow for pairing and sampling across an extensive list focused on European and South American wines. The interior is elegant yet casual, offering seating in low banquettes, high tables, or on the balcony overlooking the bar. If you prefer dining outdoors, grab a table on the front patio, where you can see and be seen on Elk Avenue.

Yes, my squeeze and I returned to Crested Butte this past winter and have just booked it again for January 2015. Again, our favorite place to hang and to eat is Django's - Tony, the voluble personality behind the bar appears to run the place - he is a wonderful catalyst for those of us who congregate at the bar - the bar is where the place comes to life...the tables? To sound like Tony...Fahgetaboutit! But yes, take a table...to leave room for me...
But while Tony is the yeast, Kate Ladoulis, the chef and half owner(along with hubby Chris), is the dough - and the girl comes from down the pike from DC - from Richmond, Virginia - somehow she got lost, forgot her genteel southern accent, and was found in Crested Butte! I love to cook, so I appreciate folks who expand my culinary horizons. One night, I caught her making parsnip Gnocchi - fabulous results and thanks to her tutelage, I can now make them. Her dishes are small and quite varied - Brussels sprouts that one can ever look forward to order again, duck breast or leg, lamb loin with cauliflower puree and persimmon or lamb carpaccio - I mean this damsel has an imagination which won't quit, resulting in dining flavors which challenge your palette. If you treat your yourselves by going to Crested Butte, don't shortchange the trip by bypassing Django's! And, BTW Tony and Kate, would you please reserve two seats in the middle of the bar for me at 6 to 6:30 on January 11, 2015? Yes, the middle of the bar....

“Foodie Delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2014

We enjoyed a very good meal at this place, after hiking in the mountains. First impressions were spoiled by a clueless maître d', who was a shambles, keeping people waiting and apparently unable to work the reservations system. But once we were seated (we booked) our waitress was great, helpful and knowledgeable about the variety of small plates on the menu. We enjoyed the Charcuterie, Brussels Sprouts, Duck Leg and very fresh salad. The wine list is very fancy, with some fancy prices too, but there are reasonable choices too. All in all a very good experience, great if they ditch the fool at the front.

“Amazing Food and Dining Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2014

My wife and I have eaten here four times this year. Duck, trout, short ribs, and flatbread are all five star. Kate and Chris have created a culinary experience at 9400 ft in the mountains. This is the best place to try new things in a very friendly environment. It's great entertainment just to watch the kitchen at work. This place would kill in Dallas.

This restaurant was rated #1 in TripAdvisor. Our dinner reservations were for 9:00pm because we had not made reservations earlier and the restaurant was booked. It was worth the wait. The prices were great for Crested Butte and the food was very very delicious. It was nice to be within walking distance of our hotel also.

Great food. Small plates that you share. Scallops and brussels sprouts were amazing. Loved everything; disliked nothing. Staff was very much on top of things.
