After shopping around we found Cascada Cabins on the Chamber website and what a find! The cabins are fairly new, lots of space and the price is the same as the other lodging in town but there you only get a small room.
There are four basic types of lodging in this area. There are cabins outside of town but these all require a drive and hassle with parking when coming to town. Motel rooms that are very small. B&B's and the Cascada Cabins. Our friends had told us that it rains most afternoons in Aug so we wanted a place where we could enjoy movie and escape the rain when needed without all sitting on a bed. The cabins were perfect. I sat at the dining table and worked on my laptop while my wife and daughters watched a movie from the couch. Our dogs curled up on the floor in the kitchen.
The queen sized bed in the bedroom was comfortable enough and the door on the room afforded us privacy. The kids slept in the bunk beds and loved it. My wife and I stayed up and watched TV late one night and the kids were fast asleep in the bunks. The cabins have a nice porch where we were able to enjoy the sunset one night. The kitchen has basic utensils and we borrowed a big skillet from the restaurant onsite to cook up some of the fish we caught.
We drive a large truck and we were please to see that the parking lot was large with ample room for our truck and small boat. We were even able to leave the boat parked next to the cabin when exploring the mountains.
The staff was friendly and quick to answer all our questions. The housekeeper was a young girl from Mongolia who was very shy and cleaned our cabin spotless. It got cool one night and she rounded us up a couple extra blankets for the beds.
There is an ATV rental place onsite and we rented ATV's for a 1/2 day and it was a perfect way to explore the mountains!
The restaurant is Mexican. The owner is American who retired here from Texas. She has spent many years living in Mexico during the winter and it shows. The food is reasonably priced, served quickly and tasted authentic.
This was our first vacation in a number of years and we loved Creede. Definitely will be back.
