“Great find and good location”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We traveled through Colorado Springs with no reservations--this hotel had ample rooms available and reasonable rates! It was located near I25 so it was convenient to get to local attractions and many restaurants and gas stations nearby. It is an older hotel that has been kept up but probably needs an overhaul--we stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the restaurant/bar/indoor pool and fitness areas. The outdoor pool was a great addition however it rained so we had to stay indoors--the teenagers in the family were happy with wi-fi and lots of places to walk around -- the staff was attentive and the pool attendant was a plus--the indoor pool was 9 ft deep and the outdoor was 10 ft--the kids thought that was cool. The beds were band new and comfortable--we definately will stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed near indoor pool on 1 level

Thank you so much for taking the time to let our staff and management know of your experience with the Hotel Eleganté with your recent visit. Your comments are very important to the success of our hotel and we will share your visit with our staff.

Our hotel is undergoing a renovation of an addition of a patio bar, new entrances, new signage, and much more. Our Marketplace will convert to the Sweet Tooth offering Starbuck's coffee, Blue Bell Ice Cream and bakery/candy items. The new concept for our restaurants and lounges will please our guests with home style country cooking at it's best with our award winning Chef.

We hope that you will stay with us again in the near future and experience the renovations and changes we are making with our new ownership.

Again, thank you for providing us your comments and we look forward to serving you.

I didn't see much "elegante" about this hotel. The staff had one main setting, which was disinterested in your situation. You sent some packages for a conference hosted in their hotel and they give you one when you sent three? Shoulder shrug. Me: well I sent three, I have the delivery confirmation here so they all arrived. Desk staff: shoulder shrug. Me: Well, the other two boxes need to be found. Desk staff: Confusion. In fact my packages were finally found but only because the desk staff tried to give them to someone else and that someone else told me they were at the front desk.

The people working in their restaurant were not that invested in things like taking orders, seating you, getting you food. The breakfast buffet was horrible and ridiculously overpriced. The bar had one overworked server and it took so long to get drinks the first night we never went back.

I will say the housekeeping staff and some of the people who set up for conference events did go out of their way to be helpful.

The hotel itself is deceptively large so expect to do a lot of walking from your room to the conference areas. And don't expect any help from the bell staff or to have any assistance, even the small stuff like luggage carts.

Just getting into the hotel parking lot was complicated as well. You either had to make a U turn at a stoplight or you could make a left at a spot with horrible visibility where we saw two fender benders at during our stay.

In and of itself the interior wasn't that bad. The room I stayed in was large enough for two people to stay in comfortably. The bed was comfortable. The walls are paper thin and our room was off the outdoor pool area and people walk right by your room door talking quite loudly at all hours and if they smoke out there, you will too as it just seeps right in.

Our room keys worked only about 30% of the time and the one that worked on the door to the room often did not work on the outside doors. We had to get them reset once and it still didn't improve. The conference spaces were decent and the food we had at the events was pretty good, especially for a conference.

I booked this hotel online, through Priceline, and it was ranked 3.5 Stars. Certain aspects of the hotel have been updated nicely and those upgrades are photographed and marketed nicely online. That said, the hotel is old and has 'old bones'. The hallways are small and the ceilings in the common areas are low. The parking lot and approach make you feel like you've arrived at a 2 Star motel. The front of the hotel is under construction, so I assume that they're upgrading the exterior too.
My bottom line assessment and recommendation is this. If you're comfortable in 2 - 3 Star locations, you'll find this to be a nice upgrade because of the very nice room finishings and the new decor in common areas. If you're more accustomed to 4 Star hotels, you'll feel like you've stepped down much more than half of a star. (We transferred from this hotel from Cheyenne Mountain Resort and it was a dramatic downgrade, though it's only .5 Stars different.)
I hope this review helps your planning. I should end by noting that the room was clean and fresh and the staff was friendly. At the end of the day, it provides everything that you NEED from a hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor and it was fine.

Dear David:

Thank you so much for your response about your recent stay at our hotel. Your comments are very important to our staff and management and your comments assist our team in providing great service to our guests.

In regards to the entrance of the hotel, we are currently under construction to add an arch leading into the hotel for a better appearance along with an outdoor patio restaurant and bar where you witnessed the construction. Additional renovations of our restaurants, bar and the new "Sweet Tooth" are going to be completed by August 27, 2013.

Your comments about the staff and room cleanliness are appreciated and we will definitely pass on to our team.

We hope that you will return and experience the newness to the property once we are completed with our renovations.

The hotel is not located in the best part of town and it can be kind of a hassle to get in and out of the place. The gas station that shares a portion of the parking lot is sketchy and will make you uncomfortable if you go. Our room keys did not work and the staff was unwilling to help in this situation and insinuated that it was our fault. They were not pleasant and this really turned me off, after we fixed the problem the hotel representative did not apologize or have a good attitude about fixing it. The hotel does not have the toiletries that they advertise on the website. The building has the feel of an old and dumpy casino and could use some serious upgrades. It was really dark throughout the lobby and the hallways. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable.

I stayed here only because the meeting I was attending was here.

Good things are the food, (banquet food was all I had)., free internet, the lobby was nice but furniture was not inviting, too metro for Colorado, bed was comfy, Starbucks in my room, beautiful mountain views, free shuttle for airport and other places.

Not so good things, my view of the on ramp on I-25 and the deck with no chair to sit on in my room on the second floor, one bar of soap provided, would have liked one for shower and one for sink. Some areas needed updated carpet.

I was on foot and there was not a lot of things within walking distance around the hotel but if you have a car your right by the highway. I'd give this only 3 star rating.

Room Tip: Request a room that does not face I-25.

Stayed here for two nights 22-23 June. Check in was swift and reception staff were pleasant.

The walk to our room on the second floor was very long but we were pleased with our room. It was large and bright and had a good view of the mountains. Coffee in the room, however, was undrinkable and only one sachet of regular and one of decaf was provided. Coffee maker only made one cup at a time anyway, but after the first sip we didn't bother making any more.

A full breakfast was included in the price but we felt the quality and selection were poor and quite limited. We had to ask for orange juice which was then brought out individually for us. A single mug of coffee was also supplied when requested!

We couldn't see anywhere else close by where we could eat and the main dining area in the hotel was almost deserted on both nights so we ate in Rick's Lounge. Then food and atmosphere there were good and the same waitress on both nights was great, so friendly, efficient and hard working.

There are two pools and the indoor one seemed to be well used and looked inviting but we did not see anyone in the outdoor pool. It was very busy on the Saturday night with several functions and a wedding but Sunday was extremely quiet and felt almost deserted.

We now know that this hotel has recently changed hands and maybe it is still a work in progress. It was a convenient place for us to stay for a couple of nights before we returned to Denver Airport for our return flight to the UK. It is reasonably close to Colorado Springs and Garden of the Gods etc, but I am not sure I could recommend it as a destination in itself at the present time.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room with a view.

This place was absolutely terrible! Only if you like to be surrounded by loud parties of kids, a room and hallways that smell like cat litter, poor service, inexplicable charges on your credit card bill, rates that are way out of line for the amenities, decor that is out of 1970s Las Vegas (and not in a good way) will you want to stay here.

The only good service was the free shuttle bus to and from the airport. I will not stay here again!
