“Unpleasant Experience...will never stay there again.”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

We arrived to check in at 4:00pm on May 22, 2013. Our first impressions were negative. My wife noticed weeds growing at the lobby entrance where grass should have been. When we went inside, the lobby was dark and uncomfortably warm. There was no one at the front desk, just a bell to ring to summon help. The clerk arrived and was polite and friendly. We were given a room and proceeded upstairs. We arrived at the room to find the door propped open. Upon entering the room I noticed the floor lamp had no shade and there was not a chair at the desk. I tried to call the front desk without success so I went back downstairs. I told the clerk the room was unacceptable. He quickly moved us to another room. It was clean and fully furnished. We decided to go down to the indoor pool and sauna. The room where they were was extremely hot, well over 100 degrees. We opened the outside doors but this did little to cool the space. Upon inspecting the pool, we saw it was very murky and needed to be cleaned. The pool was only five feet deep but you could not see the bottom. We quickly left. My wife noticed at this point the floors in hallways and elevator were dirty, probably as a result of the hotel renovations that were taking place. We had brought food and when we tried to use the microwave discover it reeked of burnt popcorn. The last straw was when we tried to go to sleep. It was about 10:00pm and the dogs in the room next door barked for over an hour. I emailed Choice Hotels Customer Service when I returned home. They responded quickly and asked me to call them. They said this was not the first time they had received complaints about this property and apologized. They did give me 6000 Choice Privileges points in an attempt to remedy the situation.

Dear Mr. manap1991,

We apologize for the issues you experienced while staying at our hotel. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a response here and the detail that you put into it. We will use your response as a way of bettering our hotel and the experience our guests have while they are here.

As you noticed we are currently undergoing a renovation and at the time had not had a chance to get to the weeds in the front. The grass has now been cut and the weeds pulled so I am happy to say that we have fixed that issue already. The only time we use the bell is when we are folding laundry which we unfortunatly have no other way of telling if someone is at the desk.

Again we do apologize for the problems you experienced while staying with us. We are trying to address all of the issues while we continue our renovation and I hope that when it is complete you will give us another chance to provide you with the exceptional experience we want for all of our guests.

Thank you

We paid around $150 for a king size suite. The smoke detector was tampered with, there was a gaudy fake plant that kinda covered a hole in the wall, the towel rack was lose and jiggled easy, and when we turned on the fan/ac the smell of dust was overwhelming! When we walked around the hotel we noticed that the pool was DISGUSTING. The carpet was so dirty all over the hotel and there were multiple ceiling tiles missing on the first floor.
I will definitely never stay here again.

Great place to stay, friendly staff, and good breakfast. The location is right off the highway so being from a small town the road noise was a little of an adjustment but not enough to change my place to stay. It was great in terms of restaurant and business access.

Dear colleen1005,

Thank you very much for your review of our hotel. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will consider us on any future stays you may have planned for the area. The new curtains we are putting in will hopefully block out some of that excess highway noise as well so hopefully if you do decide to come back you might not be able to even hear it.

Thanks again

This hotel is a great value. The rooms are very very clean and nice, the hotel staff is very courteous and friendly. The breakfast in the morning were very good and everything was always filled and fresh and hot. The price was great and it's cheaper if you call them directly for reservations than if you make them thru someone else.

Stayed at hotel for a visit to the Colorado Springs Airforce academy which is located only few miles away. After making the reservation on-line , I was initially dismayed to see the hotel's close proximity to I-25 fearing traffic noise would interfere with our sleep. The room was very clean and totally quiet with comfortable bed.......

My husband and I were moving to and chose this hotel for our last night in CO and so glad we did. They upgraded us to a ver large king bedded room and we slept very well in the room. Breakfast was great and service here is tips! What a find and very reasonably priced.
