Cheyenne Mountain Resort
Ranked #19 of 105 Hotels in Colorado Springs
Reviewed June 10, 2013

The Cheyenne Mountain Resort is a nice place to stay in Colorado Springs. That being said, it's not a 4 or 5 star resort with all the amenities to pamper it's guests in lavish luxury. There are resorts that do, this one does not. I stayed 4 days for a meeting being held on sight. The room we stayed in was okay, it faced the golf course, had a nice view, but I understand the complaints that everything is spread out. It was a bit of a walk to get anywhere on the premises. The room cleanliness caused some concern, on the first night we found lots of hair on the pillows, in the sheets and in the shower. We stripped off the beds and made due. The food on sight is very good, though for buffet style it's a bit overpriced. The pamphlet and website claims to allow guests better access to the golf course, but one must read the fine print as it states "twilight" but does not say when that time begins. We booked 4 for a tee time and were charged $90 a person for green fees and carts. The course is also in need some of TLC. Overall I might stay at this place again, but would have no illusions that this is a upper scale resort.

Room Tip: Bring good walking shoes if you ever plan on leaving the room.

While we are glad to read that you enjoyed aspects of your stay including the views and onsite dining, it is truly disheartening that your visit fell short of the expectations you had of our resort. Our property does include a main lodge, eight residential lodges and a number of amenities like our aquatics center and tennis course set on our rolling resort grounds, however, no amenity or resort area is further away than an easy, five-minute stroll. We regret deeply if any aspect of your room was amiss and wish you had alerted us while onsite so that we could have resolved any concerns swiftly. Thank you for taking the time to provide your thoughts, we do hope you’ll consider a future stay so that we may truly impress you at every turn.

We stayed here over spring break in March 2013. The hotel was very nice and we used the pool and hot tub. We had breakfast on one day and dinner here on another day. Both were buffets and were excellent. The food was very fresh and lots of fruit and vegetables. We were glad we could stay here for a long weekend.

Had a great overnight get-away. Booked this with name-your-own-price and got an incredible price. They have beautiful amenities and a huge, heated pool/jacuzzi. Had evening cocktails on the main lodge's upper balcony in front of the fire pit. Staff brought blankets to cuddle up in.

Rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. Lovely balcony perfect for sipping morning coffee. Quiet resort and great for families!

We were excited to stay here because it was so highly reviewed but were disappointed for a few reasons. The first is we were put in the bottom corner room right next to a very large electrical unit that never went to sleep like us. This meant it was very loud at all times. The second was there were creepy crawly friends right when we entered to greet us to our room. But that's not all, their friends decided to crash our party the next day too so we had about six or seven large spiders, ants, and pincher bugs on the floor, ceiling, and even on the bed. Luckily caught them and let them go outside but my girlfriend couldn't sleep very well knowing there was an open door policy here for those guys. Now I fully understand what type of environment we were in and expected some interaction with insects but not that much, especially for a nice place like this. I've been camping and seen a lot less bugs in my tent over the course of a week. The staff didn't seem to care too much after we gave them the cliff notes version of our stay. Oh well!

I was quite surprised at the price of this place. It was a great price for the amount of amenities that were available. Our stay was great except that one day someone who worked at the hotel walked into our room without knocking (at least we think they worked there). Also they were doing some work in our building and made quite a bit of noise early in the morning. Most of our building was empty so I don't think too many people were disturbed. The good part was that a good portion of the noise was due to carpet cleaning. That is always a good thing though at a hotel. At least your know they are making efforts to clean it.

Room Tip: I recommend the resort view but that may mean you have to hike a bit to get to any of the pools. If...

We had reservations at this facility for Mother's Day weekend this year. We had plans to invite our entire family (13) to enjoy their roast beef buffet dinner that Saturday Night and we decided to upgrade to a suite so our granddaughter wouldn't have to drive back to Fort Collins afterwards. They didn't have any available but accommodated us beautifully by giving us a large room for entertaining on one side of the entry hall and a regular hotel room on the other side. The whole end of the building was basically ours, and included a wonderful wrap around porch so we could enjoy different views, but the mountain/golf course view was definitely the best. The facility was in good repair and everything was very clean. We enjoyed small plates and drinks in the bar at lunch and the food was excellent as were the drinks. The buffet dinner was good but not as good as the small bites. Apparently they make "smores" out by the fireplace on Saturday night but we missed it. I would agree with another reviewer that it was a very good value. We missed the Sunday brunch because they were booked up by the time we called for reservations. Buffet breakfast was included with our room but we missed it every day because we slept too late.

This is our second trip to CMR. We went last minute over Memorial Day, and got an incredible price on our room. It was very busy, and when we got there our room wasn't ready, so they were kind enough to let us use all of their facilities while we waited. They have a fantastic outdoor pool/jacuzzi complete with snack bar & alcohol for the adults. They are connected to a country club where you have full, free use of the facilities. They have a nice lake with free kayaks, paddle boats and really fun Aqua Bikes. There's a large outdoor olympic sized pool and an indoor lap pool as well. The tennis courts are incredible (both outdoor and indoor). There's a golf course and nice restaurant attached. All of the prices are really reasonable. I've never had room service in my life, but their prices were great, so we even indulged in that. It was such a fun weekend and we will definitely be back!!
