I've recently completed my second stay at the Old Town Guest House in the shadow of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs (Old Colorado City). My stay was during a stressful family illness and Shirley and Don were constantly making sure that I had every possible comfort and amenity. This inn was custom built about 10 years ago...designed to be an upscale, soundproof luxury getaway and welcome change from chain hotels for the discriminate traveller. Don and Shirley are meticulous about taking care of the individual needs of the traveller, dietary restrictions and accomodations above and beyond the normal. The inn is spotless and decorated in the southwestern mountain style without being overdone. Added bonuses is the elevator on this 3 story building, a video library numbering more than 500, a sitting/room library with fireplace and leather club chairs and house specialty snacks always available. Breakfasts were sumptuous with adventurous fare such as Scotch Eggs and Blueberry french toast. Staff was friendly, unobtrusive and professional. Another bonus is that Colorado City is packed full of history, art and fine dining....all within walking distance. Old Town Guest House feels like an old familiar friend, welcoming you in with warmth, privacy and quiet luxury.
