Lennox House Bed and Breakfast

Reviewed January 11, 2013

We stayed at the Lennox House recently, and were dismayed to find that the quality of the stay has gone way, wayyyy down in the past few months (year?) or so. It seems there has been a change in owners/management or innkeepers and some things may have been swept under the rug or gone unnoticed.

For example, in terms of the exterior of the house, the paint is faded and chipped off completely in places, one of the back windows was broken and roughly patched up with tape and cardboard, the hot tub was broken and left with casing off, and an AC unit is falling out of a third story window, held in place only by a flimsy, decaying window frame.

In terms of the breakfast part of this place, I'd say the quality has degraded as well. The food is not gourmet, but rather reheated prepackaged breakfast items. Think like Denny's, but half the portion size and on nicer plates. It's food; but if you are a "foodie" yourself or looking for a nice breakfast, you may want to save your money and go somewhere else. I also actually felt like a little bit unwelcome by the staff.

In any case, I don't want to sound mean, but this place could definitely use some work. It COULD be really great with some improvements! (I know because I was there when it was once! - Granted that was under different leadership.)

We are a bit suspicious of this review for a few reasons:

The reviewer claims they stayed at the Lennox House in January 2013. But if this is the case, then there complaint about the spa could not possibly be true since the spa was replaced with a fire pit prior to January 2013. Additionally, their reference to a broken window boarded up with cardboard is a mystery to us since no such circumstance exists.

It is true that the exterior of the home needs painting and this is a planned improvement for the summer.

We take their comments about the quality of their meals seriously and are constantly taking measures to ensure we're providing high quality, gourmet food and a superior Bed & Breakfast experience.

We purchased a 2 night package on Groupon. You never know what you are getting into on some of these offers. We needed to arrive early because of an appointment in town and was able to check in early to drop off our stuff. Julie was very friendly and we did enjoy our breakfast conversations and the delicious meals. The first morning we were the only guests so we had time to get to know her. We could come and go and felt very safe in this area, which is close to town. The bed and breakfast is has been decorated to match the era and is very clean. We had a private bathroom in our room. I will be back!

We had a weekend stay at The Lennox House in Colorado Springs in September. This Bed & Breakfast is conveniently located to the attractions in Colorado Springs. Be aware that check in is between 4-5 p.m.. We stayed in the Autumn room which is located downstairs. It also has the best bed out of all the rooms. The pillows are not as good. The bathroom is very spacious with 2 sinks and a tub/shower. You could hear traffic and we were even awakened by a motorcycle around 4 a.m.. The room was extremely dusty which I am allergic to and woke up stuffy everyday. You get your own key to come and go as you please. Breakfast was gourmet and very good. The linens are not changed nor do you get towels everyday. There are packaged snacks out for when you come in at night. They do have a very old computer which works sometimes.

We're glad that you mostly enjoyed your stay. In September we underwent a change in our innkeeper and it appears some of our standard level of quality was lost in the transition.

Our check-in time is between 4-7pm, and of course, we'll never shut anyone out if you show up late!

Pillow selection is a hard thing to accomodate when every guest has a different expectation for their pillows and so we've tried to maintain a variety of pillow selections in each room varying from firm, to soft, and medium.

As is common practice for Bed & Breakfasts, especially small B&B's, we do not provide daily room turnover free of charge. If you wish to recieve new towels and linens every day, we can accomodate this request for an additional $50/day. It's labor intensive and wears out the sheets and towels more quickly.

As far as the dust, this is something that we've taken recent efforts to resolve in our new innkeeping staff. We're sorry your stay was not as comfortable as you would have liked.

It was a girls trip for me and my friend and we stayed here for the week to explore Colorado Springs. Julie and her husband were so great to us and the breakfasts were delicious (they are also very accommodating of vegetarians) - and the other visitors while we were there were very enjoyable as well. Everyone ate together and shared experiences of the day and ideas for new adventures while visiting. This was my first true experience with a B&B and I will definitely recommend this location as well as plan to visit again when I return to CO. (I have already!) Great location, provides a very homey atmosphere, clean, and friendly all around.

Room Tip: I really enjoyed our room bc it was like our own apartment for the week - I would recommend the Falc...

We recently stayed at the Lennox house. It has new management this past month, they are hard at work making much needed improvements to the landscaping and outside of the house. The inside was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast is the biggest complaint. We were looking forward to some of the wonderful meals described on here, and were extremely disappointed. The first day was a wonderful fruit cup, followed by two small banana pancakes and cold half dollar size sausage patties. The second morning was just over a quarter of a standard Belgium waffle, same sausage patty and a small side of fruit with 2 peach slices and 2 pear slices. All in all extremely disappointing, in past experiences the breakfast is one of the highlights of a bed and breakfast stay.
I would give them a chance again, as it seems like the new managers are just getting settled in. The location is wonderful for local attractions, and the stay was quiet and comfortable.

I've looked into this report and have determined that the meal this guest unfortunately received was prepared by one of our part-time innkeepers and was woefully below our standards.

This individual failed to follow the menu provided by our full time innkeepers which would have ensured variety and the high quality that we are known for.

This individual no longer works for the Lennox House and we are sorry that you had to experience such a poor quality breakfast.

Spent two nights at Lennox House and have nothing but good things to say. Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and well kept, the bed was very comfortable, and the food was tasty. The location is great for many Colorado Springs attractions. There was no issue finding parking right out front of the house. Would definitely stay here agin when back in the area!

We stayed here june 20-23, 2012 and were highly impressed with the comfort and down home charm this house has, yet combined with a slight urban living feel because of it's lacation being close to downtown springs, manitou springs, and old town colorado springs. Made it very easy to get to fun attractions and good food! Lots of choices. Thank you
