“Good and bad”
Reviewed August 6, 2011

The hotel and rooms are very nicely decorated and clean. The beds were the most comfortable we had compared to four other hotels on this vacation. The AC also worked well and was stable, quiet, and managed to keep a steady temperature.

The walls were thin and it was easy to hear neighbors, traffic, etc.

The breakfast was the worst of vacation. The eggs were runny and I found something questionable and unappetizing in them the first morning. I didn't care for the turkey sausage but the kids liked them. They also liked the blueberry muffins.

Our beds were nicely made and they even arranged our daughter's stuffed animals, which was a nice touch. However, they neglected to clean the coffee pot and left us no clean glasses. With a family of four, we had used all 4 glasses (2 for the bathroom and 2 coffee cups) and really needed clean ones. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the oversight until bedtime, so didn't call and have clean cups sent up.

I picked this hotel based on TA reviews, but would probably try and find something closer to the western side of town next time.

The front desk workers were very pleasant and kind.

Our family of three had plenty of room, and we liked the layout much better than other chain hotels. Clean rooms and comfortable. We girls liked that the mirror/lavatory was outside the toilet/shower area. It made getting ready in the morning much easier.

Breakfast was above average and included Canadian bacon and sausage, scrambled eggs and fruit.

A very pleasant stay, with a nice view of the mountains.

We just returned from 4 nights at the Springhill Suites Colorado Springs South. We found the hotel to be clean - both common areas and guest rooms. The bathrooms were rather tiny - the toilets seemed really close to the tub. We liked the fact that we had a micro and fridge - really all that we needed. We did take advantage of the breakfast every morning. It was certainly enough to "get you off and going" but I would hardly consider it "good." The scrambled eggs left a lot to be desired and the pastries were incredibly dry. The toaster took a long time to cook a bagel or muffin - but again - the fact that there were more choices than just a banana or a cellophane wrapped muffin made it a pleasant extra.

We did have VERY loud overhead neighbors and finally on night #2 we had to call the front desk at almost midnight. To us it sounded like small children just running, jumping and running and jumping. Seriously it was NON STOP. After a long day the next day we came back to rest before dinner and wouldn't you know it started again x10. My husband visited the front desk and the manager said he'd go check. We aren't sure if he really did but asked for our room to be changed even though we only had that night left. After some back and forth he finally did move us. We traveled a lot with our kids when they were young and while they may have gotten a little loud now and then it was nothing like this. Seriously it just went on and on. I think management could have handled it a little better by truly addressing it with the occupants instead of taking the easy way out and moving us but hey, at least we got a quiet night that last night.

The hotel was quite crowded but never did we wait long for elevators, in line at breakfast, etc. There was a young lady on the desk and she was friendly and full of advice about local attractions. The pool and hot tub were small but again, adequate. I did however find my eyes stung like mad after being in the hot tub for only 5 minutes. Not sure if it was over chlorinated or what.

We had never stayed at A "Springhill Suites" Hotel. We were extremely surprised at the size of the room for the money we paid. We were not cramped as we usually are. We are a family of 4 So to have a room that has a sitting area with computer desk was really nice. We had an excellent view of Pikes Peak from our room. We will look for these hotels to stay at in the future!

Our family of four (2 teen-age boys) stayed here for a visit to the Colorado Springs area. The property was new, clean and comfortable. No hesitation recommending it. If you are planning on visiting the Olympic Training Center, Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, etc., be aware that you will need to drive 20-25 minutes to them.

The area is mostly industrial without many dining options. The only grocery store is about 1/2 mile away.

I felt we received good value for the stay despite the minor inconveniences. I'm not sure if I would stay again but it is only based on location. As I stated above, the service, staff and rooms were perfect.

We stayed here for a total of 4 nights. We actually had planned on only staying one night but once we walked in, we changed our reservations elsewhere and stayed here. The hotel seems new (not sure when actually built). It was very welcoming, clean, beds were comfortable with lots of pillows, and rooms were SPACIOUS! Rooms also had a wet bar, refrigerator, and microwave. The pullout sofa was perfect as we have 5 in our family. Everything was extremely clean! Breakfast was good--included hot foods as well as your typical hotel breakfast. The only negative was they only had one waffle maker and on this holiday weekend the hotel was packed so the line was long. The staff was friendly and seemed to remember us each time we entered and exited. There was an indoor pool, although we didn't have time to use it.

This hotel is near the airport but don't let that stop you. We were still close to everything and there is a large shopping/restaurant area within 5 minutes. We didn't feel like we were ever out of the way of the attractions. And, the bonus for us was that this hotel was a lot less expensive than others. We felt like we were in a higher-class hotel rather than an economically priced property. And, the view of Cheyenne Mountain and Pike's Peak was definitely a happy sight each morning!

If you are in the Colorado Springs area, definitely consider this hotel.
