“Bad course, good views”

Pine Creek Golf Club
Reviewed June 23, 2014

The title sums it up. The course is in bad condition, the greens are particularly bad, lots of holes and lots or very rough areas. There is also some random spongy areas where the ball just stops completely, not consistent with the rest of the course. Views around are great but for $55 a round I would not play here again.

The golf course is tough but fun to play. It's generally in good shape. But when we played it today the four of us were bothered by two big flaws. The worst was that they had heavily sanded the greens and the result couldn't really be called golf. Yet they didn't warn us of that when we made our tee time and, even more, they still charged the full retail weekend price. That's not right on either count. The other flaw is that they have carefully laid out six different sets of tees so that you can play the distance you desire, from 4,882 yards to 7,241--your choice. But then they go and take all that effort back by not putting the tee markers on the proper tee boxes. That to me is ridiculous. I'm sure they do it to speed up play but it takes away the player's choice to play the distances chosen. Just to speed up play a bit and make a bit more money? It just ain't right, folks. Then throw in the lousy service in the limited menu restaurant and you don't have much of a bargain. My friends and I absolutely refuse to eat there after a round--we've found a sports bar nearby that suits our fancy much better.

The noise from low flying Air Force planes is unbelievably load. You can't hear yourself think, and there is no way to focus on your shot. If you want to reenact the Battle of Britain than this is the place for you, but if you want to play a round of golf go to another course in the area.

I have played this course many times in the past years while visiting Colorado Springs. The course is very well laid out and presents many challenges including distance and placement of shots.
This year we thought that the course was in pristine condition. The fairways were soft and the greens were excellent.

The course is a very nice public golf course that needs rangers who know how to do thier job. Manage pace of play and don't let more than one hole get in between groups. Played course 4 times in 2 weeks and each round took well over 5 hours. Ridiculous.
