While pricey, there simply is no better Sunday Brunch in Colorado Springs than the Lake Terrace Dining Room at the Broadmoor Hotel. None better. Besides the usual breakfast fare, although superbly prepared, there are salads of all kinds, par excellence, beef, pork, chicken and seafood entrees par excellence. And, the whole spectrum of specialty drinks from Bloody Marys through Champagne Cocktails. The desserts will give you that happy, eyes-open-wide 20-mile stare. Wow! Yes, it's pricey. But the old adage that "You get what you pay for" is written in bold letters here. Absolutely superb.

We went to the Sunday Brunch, which was crowded but sumptous and worth the wait at least once. This brunch is certainly pleasing visually - the beautiful, elegant rooms, the piano music from the corner, and the extraordinary colors and presentations on the elaborate buffet tables. It's a lot to take in the first time. The Broadmoor certainly has plenty of people keeping the food looking nice, ladling out desserts and assisting where needed.
I thought the food was good and fresh. I especially enjoyed all the layout of cheese they offered. My son must've visited the dessert tables at least five time! I have never been offered so many types of desserts in one place.
Our only complaint was our server, an older white-haired lady who gave us the impression she was doing us a favor each time she refilled our waters. (We're big water drinkers....and the water glasses were small.) As one point when someone at our table brought it to her attention that we were all out of water again, she replied, "All in good time..." and wandered off just to show us she would do it when she pleased. She seemed to walk around a lot but not to get much done. However, I think this was just bad luck on our part, because all the other servers nearby were hustling and bustling and going out of their way to please the tables they were serving. I regret we didn't complain to the manager, but this was a family outing and I didn't want to chance having something unpleasant happen.
Reserve early for the brunch, apparently they fill up quickly, especially at Christmastime. I probably wouldn't go back, just because it's too much food at one time and too many people. Also, be aware that sometimes when you make reservations for the Brunch, they may put you in a "overflow" brunch room which is at the other side of the Broadmoor complex, though they do inform you about this when you're making reservations. We were told that it's the exact same Brunch as the one offered in the Lake Terrace Dining Room, but in a different building on the Broadmoor grounds. We've weren't in the overflow brunch, so I have no idea about how it compares, but I would assume, like every other part of the Broadmoor, that it's beautifully decorated too....

If you can't find something to eat at this weekday breakfast buffet, you must not be hungry. The cold table as one enters had a bounty of fresh fruit including raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, and melon. One could also choose from charcuterie, cheeses, and smoked salmon. The next table had an omelet station as well as fresh made waffles. The hot food section had eggs, bacon, sausages, and the most incredibly light and tender cheese blintzes with a hot berry sauce. A sweet table is in the middle of the room, in case you haven't yet had your fill! I couldn't imagine how the Sunday buffet could be better and was informed by the staff that an array of seafood and more selections are available then. Servers are attentive in clearing the table and even cover coffee cups when you leave the table. Although the dining area is formal you don't need to dress up during the week, so don't shy away from enjoying this breakfast bounty.

Ordering Ala carte unless you only want one item is not worth it. The buffet is very good.

Took too long to get in despite having reservation. Service was OK but staff was apparently "stretched" and we have several servers not well coordinated. When the food arrived (that part was timely) is was good, not exceptional but quite good. We would reconsider this venue on our next visit in favor of all the other wonderful eating establishments on the hotel property.
