Il Vicino has been a staple for us in the sense we hit there at least once a year of not more often.
We have NEVER had a bad pizza there. Keep in mind it's brick oven pizza and has interesting toppings. It's not Pizza Hut, and please never compare it to that.
Yes it is a chain but a small one at that.
Now it's not sit down service in the sense that you order at the cash register and pay there. Should you need another food item, glass of wine, beer, etc. there are friendly servers that will be happy to deliver.
As mentioned the service has always been friendly on our visits. The wine is decent for the price. They have a great salad. We love to split a salad and get a pizza or 2. They aren't huge but pretty heavy for one person.
They offer fresh parmesan for the pizza and fresh ground black pepper for their salads.
I am not huge on counter service restaurants but it's more than made up for in the ensuing service and again, the food quality is quite good.
I really don't have a bad thing to say about the place except perhaps they could make it a touch less antiseptic in regards to the atmosphere. Dec it out a bit and add some music. They are only suggestions and in no way should keep you from getting a nice lunch or meal before perhaps going to the Kimball's Theater around the corner and catching a movie.
