There are two Jose Muldoon restaurants in Colorado Springs and we have eaten at both of them. This review is for the downtown, Tejon Street, location where we ate last night. Full disclosure: we live in the Springs and eat at one of these every six weeks or so.
The decor is great, like a Mexican village, and there are TVs and piped in music but both are low enough to allow conversation. The food is not just standard Mexican restaurant fare but some interesting, unique dishes such as their sweet and spicy tacos (soft tacos, toasted jalapenos, mangos, onions, chicken, cabbage, sauce, etc.).
We have never had a waiter or waitress who was less than excellent at either location. The food arrives within ten minutes of the order and is hot, made from fresh ingredients. The prices are very reasonable for families on a budget or couples on a night out, ranging from $9-13 dollars for the main dish. Of course, chips and salsa are complimentary and are quite good.
