Description: For over 40 years this family-owned German Restaurant on the south side of Colorado Springs has served over a million happy customers. The restaurant invites guests to dine in one of its several rooms decorated with artifacts from Europe. With strolling musicians on Friday and Saturday nights, three blazing fireplaces in winter, and an authentic "Biergarten" in summer, you are sure to enter into another world as a guest at Edelweiss. The authentic menu with a variety of Old World German dishes includes Schnitzel, Bratwurst, and Sauerbraten, with newer-age items such as Flammekuchen and Maultaschen. For those not so adventurous palates Edelweiss offers other Continental fare such as Chicken Cordon Bleu, Filet Tournedos, or Fresh Salmon Filet. Imported German Beers and Wines can be ordered to compliment any of the flavorful dishes. The European-trained Swiss Pastry Chef bakes all of the desserts from scratch, so save room for one of the rich Tortes or pastries, or take some to go.

“Great Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2009

Lunch or dinner - wonderful place to eat. We look at the menu and always go back to the Wienerschnizle (veal) with potatoes. Lunch portions are plenty and come out of the kitchen quickly and hot. Dinner portions are larger (cost a little more) and are almost more than we can eat, but we seem to finish our plates.

“Edelweiss trriebel German Food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2008

The Bier is good also the Atmosfare however when as come to the food the owner should be a shame of them self. I am German but never eat such terrible food in a Restaurant as there. Cordon Blue original is Ham and Cheese in the middle of a Schnitzel up there you get a Schnitzel as thin as a Razerblate with a little cheap Ham and Cheese on top, any other Schnitzel is as same thin gravy is made with cheap package Jaegerschnitzel cheap gravy and 2 Mushroms. Their should be a shame with the high price their have and the bad food their serve.

“Great food, horrible business practices”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2008

I had heard about Edelweiss and decided, on a recent trip to Colorado Springs, that we needed to take advantage of the trip and finally go there.

Our food was really good and our service was fine. It was another patron's complaint, however, that caught my attention and literally made me want to get up and leave immediately.

It seems that at nearby 3-top, two patrons shared an entree. They had a normal order for the table, drinks (not water), I assume the third person's entree, and the one entree to be shared. The restaurant tacked on an extra charge for the empty plate. I don't know how much that charge was - $2 or the full $20 entree charge, I couldn't say. I do know that nowhere on the menu or anywhere else was there any kind of notice that there would be an extra charge for patrons sharing a meal. Furthermore, when confronted about the charge, the person in charge appeared to be accusing the patron of being a cheapskate rather than someone who had a valid complaint. She was also very insistent that his claim that no other restaurant charged extra for sharing was wrong.

I personally have never been to a restaurant that charges extra for an empty plate. It has also been my experience that whether a patron has a valid complaint or not, the customer is always right. In this case, there was a valid complaint made and the restaurant basically blew him off. I will not be returning nor will I be recommending this restaurant to anyone else. I think this is a extremely poor business practice and I don't see how they could have been in business this long treating customers this way. I was sad that I was actually adding to their profits by eating there.

“Old style in a bad way”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2008

Great looking place with an old time feeling and a very nice outdoor patio. The weissbier is great but there ends the good things about the place. The food is old time German meaning boring and not particularly well done.

Very good food, excellent service. I loved their biergarten. Shady and cool. We thought about coming back to the Springs just to eat here. Must try.
