My daughter and family just moved to Colorado Springs 2 weeks ago. I traveled to the Springs to take the 2 year old to her mom and dad. We were driving the area last weekend and passed the cute German Restaurant nestled in a quaint neighborhood. It was very inviting with, all decked out in Christmas lights, and the thought of comforting German food on that cold night drew us in.
The decor is very authentic. The owner/manager seemed to know almost everyone. The food was FANTASTIC. My father makes a mean sauerbraten and theirs was spot on. The Rouladen was perfect as was the Weinerschnitzel. The latter was not a "breaded cutlet" from Costco, but a perfectly and authentically prepared veal cutlet with lemon!
I was so impressed with the meal, I called on Tuesday before heading back to Texas and ordered a dozen bratwurst to take home. These brat were homemade and were absolutely fantastic. We had them last night with some sauerkraut and potato pancakes.
Thank you, we visit your restaurant EVERY time we come to Colorado Springs. (and that will be often our only granddaughter is there!)
And by the way...we know good German food. -Suzanne Umberger
