Description: For over 40 years this family-owned German Restaurant on the south side of Colorado Springs has served over a million happy customers. The restaurant invites guests to dine in one of its several rooms decorated with artifacts from Europe. With strolling musicians on Friday and Saturday nights, three blazing fireplaces in winter, and an authentic "Biergarten" in summer, you are sure to enter into another world as a guest at Edelweiss. The authentic menu with a variety of Old World German dishes includes Schnitzel, Bratwurst, and Sauerbraten, with newer-age items such as Flammekuchen and Maultaschen. For those not so adventurous palates Edelweiss offers other Continental fare such as Chicken Cordon Bleu, Filet Tournedos, or Fresh Salmon Filet. Imported German Beers and Wines can be ordered to compliment any of the flavorful dishes. The European-trained Swiss Pastry Chef bakes all of the desserts from scratch, so save room for one of the rich Tortes or pastries, or take some to go.

“Brought back memories of Germany”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

My daughter and family just moved to Colorado Springs 2 weeks ago. I traveled to the Springs to take the 2 year old to her mom and dad. We were driving the area last weekend and passed the cute German Restaurant nestled in a quaint neighborhood. It was very inviting with, all decked out in Christmas lights, and the thought of comforting German food on that cold night drew us in.

The decor is very authentic. The owner/manager seemed to know almost everyone. The food was FANTASTIC. My father makes a mean sauerbraten and theirs was spot on. The Rouladen was perfect as was the Weinerschnitzel. The latter was not a "breaded cutlet" from Costco, but a perfectly and authentically prepared veal cutlet with lemon!

I was so impressed with the meal, I called on Tuesday before heading back to Texas and ordered a dozen bratwurst to take home. These brat were homemade and were absolutely fantastic. We had them last night with some sauerkraut and potato pancakes.

Thank you, we visit your restaurant EVERY time we come to Colorado Springs. (and that will be often our only granddaughter is there!)

And by the way...we know good German food. -Suzanne Umberger

“Authentic German Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Authentic German cuisine from main course to dessert. Weekends include live music that makes the evening even more enjoyable. Most of the staff also speak Deutsch if you would like ffor the complete European experience. Delicious and reasonably priced.

“Yuck”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

The best part of this meal were the pretzel rolls served at the begining of the meal - which you can buy at the local grocery store. Food was not authenticly German and presentation was terrible - looked like slop. We will not return.

“Authentic, but....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

Not a big fan of the place, tried the food couple times, too greasy, did not look like it was just cooked, fattening, and the staff was not the friendliest, at least in my experience.

The waitstaff are exceptional! The food is prepared well and served piping hot. Don't forget to get dessert - you will not regret it!
