Dinners are served family style with a choice of fried chicken or baked ham (and chicken fried steak on Friday nights). Everything is made from scratch daily and meals include an appetizer and seasonal dessert. 4 Generations of the Parker family have ran the restaurant and in 2016 the establishment will celebrate its 65th year of operation. It is a favorite among locals and travelers alike and reservations are recommended by calling ahead.

“Cash Only!”
Reviewed January 18, 2012

Juniper valley is an interesting place. The food is great, but there are only two menu items; fried chicken or ham steak. All the sides are served family style. Great little place to eat, but take cash. The first time I went, I didn't know that and almost had to wash dishes!

“Good home cooked meal”
Reviewed October 30, 2010

I have been going to Juniper Valley for 40 some years. It hasn't changed much at all. I love the curry soup, the riced potatoes and the okra casserole. I wish they had more white meat chicken and the cobbler that they used to serve. It's still a fun place to go.

“Excellent Choice for Off the Beaten Path”
Reviewed August 15, 2010

Admittedly, this restaurant is not that convenient. It requires a scenic drive on Hwy 115 south of Colorado Springs and is small adobe building on the left side of the road without anything else of note around. (GPS really helps in locating by the way). That being said, it was an absolutely wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back with a bunch more people. The rooms are small and seating is limited so call a day or more in advance to reserve your spot. The food is served family style and we loved it all but especially how well seasoned the items were and homemade taste. The cole slaw is different than traditional and super tasty and the okra/veggie casserole even my husband (non-veggie eater that he is) loved. The chicken is super cruncy, salty and juicy and biscuits and cream gravy are delicious. Personally, we are super picky about biscuits and these were small, tender and flavorful. It's a set price but they do replenish items upon request so everyone will eat their fill. I was not that excited about either the appetizer or the dessert - they were fine but pale in comparison to everything else. Cash or Check only.

“Sure......it's good”
Reviewed July 19, 2010

And it's quaint, and really cool that it's been run by the same family for 50 years. But really, it's just well-executed family restaurant/diner fare, only pricier and without the variety. The chicken is by far the star of the show; the ham is nothing you couldn't easily make at home. Sides are good, but not exceptional. We enjoyed it as a novelty, but probably won't go back frequently. If you're someone who needs to go out to get a good home-cooked meal........well, then you'd probably enjoy this place very much!
