We had just finished touring garden of he gods and I was searching for a place for lunch we found ucheena! The owner is a beautiful pleasant woman who greets u at the door and gives u a bell if u need her! She immediately brought us out delicious samples of rosé and lavender tea that was so delicious and different from anything I had ever tasted! We had never tried Ethiopian food do she brought my husband and I out a sample and the spices mixed with the flavorful chicken were amazing!! I had the shredded beef tendeoin wrapped in a fresh warm pita ! It was delicious ! As we left she gave us both the warmest hug and sent us off with two of the most Amaxing desserts I have ever had! I would go back anytime any day not just for the food but for the amazing experience and kindness of ucheena!!! Try it and u won't be dissapointed!!!

This restaurant has a wonderful food (a good variety for everyone in the family and even some WONDERFUL gluten free options) and Maya is absolutely an amazing joy. I try to share this restaurant with all my visitors and not one has gone away without falling in love with the food and the owner.

A note to all Coloradans who appreciate REAL flavors, and those passing through the Springs in need of a satisfying dining experience...Uchenna is a must! There's nothing pretentious about it. The restaurant is simple, and Maya is a wonderful host who will make every effort to guide one towards making the right menu choices. As this was our first time with Ethiopian cuisine, we sampled several dishes (and hot and cold beverages) from the menu. All were prepared exquisitely and seasoned in ways that will only entice us to google all dishes so we can better appreciate what Maya prepared for us. in the end, while Ethiopian cuisine may seem overly exotic to many, Uchenna should not be missed. The experience is akin to (all of our) mom's best efforts, and will find a place onto your dining-out short list.

In a sea of chain restaurants and bad tex mex, Uchenna is a life buoy for Colorado Springs diners. We recently had dinner with another couple, both of whom are vegetarian. We all ordered from the Ethiopian menu and everyone was extremely pleased with their meals. We tried four different desserts, they were all delicious. Maya was so welcoming and helpful (she taught us how to eat out dishes) and the teenagers who I assume are her children were very nice and professional ( a credit to her parenting!). We all agreed it is our new favorite place and can't wait to go back to try the Mediterranean menu!

Fabulous food with a welcome that made us feel like family. Clearly a place many locals love as well judging by the crowd there the Friday night we visited. Food is traditional ethiopian with Mediterranean additions so something for all, including kids. Baklava was as good as our favorite Turkish restaurant!
