I had Goma (collard greens, garlic, ginger and splices) which came with Injera, and it was delicious. Perhaps even more impressive is the service. The server (maybe the owner?) was so kind and attentive. The decor of Ethiopian memorabilia is interesting, too. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys

The food was okay but not special. If you're in the mood for something a bit different, it's worth trying, but we probably won't be going back. I don't really understand why this place is rated number one in Colorado Springs. There are many places that I would rather go to in C.S.

I went to Uchenna based on the reviews I've seen on here, but for me it didn't live up to its #1 status. First, they were out of Samboussa which I really wanted to try. I had lamb sauteed with garlic that was very good, but for $15 I wanted more lamb. The side of lentils was just ok. I have read many reviews wherein people ask why they weren't given a fork. The answer is quite simple: by shoveling every bite in using a piece of bread (injera) what looks like a small portion ends up being very filling. I still would have liked more lamb and less bread. The desserts are homemade and were the best part of the meal.

We had the meat/veggie combo and the lamb "Yebeg Alecha". Both were flavorful and tender. Perfectly presented and prepared. The room is filled with lovely photos and items from Ethiopia.
The service is beyond comparison. I recommend this place just for the experience of being in Maya's presence. She is warm, inviting, sweet, gentle and gracious. You feel loved and cared for around her quiet spirit. And she sent us on our way with free baklava because we said w!e were too full to eat any more!

We stopped in on a whim some time ago.

We did not enjoy the bread so much. The owner insisted my brother must eat his food with it and refused to give him a fork. We asked nicely multiple times but she would not budge.

I don't understand that. I've had better Ethiopian food to be honest. I like what I had except the bread which was overly moist and falling apart a bit.

I was turned off that the owner could not give us a fork. She had them, she just refused. We won't be back.
