We've been fans of Paravicinis for several years, but a friend recommended La Bella Vita and we're hooked. The service is excellent (it's often hit-or-miss at P's), and the food is to die for. We've been back twice after that initial visit and have been equally impressed on each occasion.

They've got an appetizer that's basically miniature donuts with a savory sauce that are very, very good. They are usually offered as a special and aren't on the normal menu, but the chef will make them for you if you ask.

My wife judges the quality of an Italian restaurant on our firt visit by how good they do the very basic spaghetti Bolognese, and LBV passed with flying colors. The Risotto Chianti was also especially good.

Our first time at La Bella Vita, we were looking forward to some Italian fare but no luck. The online menu looked promising but when we arrived for Valentine's day we were given a special menu with very limited items. I understand that most places do this but this should have been posted on their website or we should have been told when we made reservations. There were only about two pasta dishes, nothing special. No risotto or gnocchi available either.

Bread baskets with oil and balsamic were brought to the table and replenished as needed.

To start, we chose the jumbo shrimp and mushroom appetizer, the small plate contained four poached shrimp topped with sliced mushrooms and herbs swimming in a cream sauce. Not too appetizing and over-priced at $12.50.

Not too many choices for entrees, I went with the Rollatine di Pollo- Breast of Chicken stuffed with ham and cheese and finished with herbs and a mushroom Madeira wine sauce. This was probably the best dish of our night, the chicken was perfectly cooked and tasted great.

My spouse went with the Scallopine di Vitello all olio Tartufato- Thinly pounded pan-sautéed milk-fed Veal with garlic, mushrooms, white wine, fresh herbs, and a touch of cream, topped with white truffle oil. I would say there was MORE than a touch of cream, it was swimming in cream!! (The same cream sauce used in the shrimp/mushroom appetizer) See the picture I posted. And when they say thinly pounded they mean it, the veal was paper thin.

Both entrees were served with the same sides, spinach and polenta. The polenta was the consistency of apple sauce, no seasoning or flavor, it was very bland and boring.

Tiramisu was really bad, the lady fingers were over-drenched which caused them to compress between the cream layers and the liqueur they used was so heavy-handed that the alcohol over powered the espresso flavor, resulting in an off-putting strong and bitter alcohol taste.

Total price for dinner of one appetizer, two entrees and one dessert came out to $65, this does not include drinks or tip. Compared to their online menu, they jacked up some of the prices on the already over priced menu. The food is just not good enough to justify those prices!

Also, our server could not recommend a favorite on the limited menu because she did not know what the dishes taste like. NOTE to restaurateurs: Gather your staff/servers and let them sample your menu prior to service so they can help your customers have a better dining experience!

Final note: the side room with the windows is really odd, we asked to be moved out of that room because it was strange and uncomfortable, the tables are too long for couples dining and the windows need serious cleaning, they look hazy and dirty.

Not sure where the "good" reviewers ate at - La Bella Vita, there is little bella at the La Bella Vita. The food is mediocre at best, the specials are overpriced for the poor quality. Avoid if possible.

Having dined at La Bella Vita my third time I feel confident to share that this restaurant is truly authentic Italian. A blend of Northern and Southern Italy La Bella Vita offers the best Italian menu I have found in Colorado. Whether its their standard menu fare or the specials of the day you will truly be delighted to savour each and every morsel of whatever you select. Today I had manicotti. It was "squisito". And lets not forget the cannoli. The shell dipped in chocolate then filled with their fresh ricotta recipe! An extensive wine list compliments outstanding service in a pleasant italian theme dining room with the music of Bocelli or Sinatra to accent the experience.

This trip I had one of the lunch specials, the red snapper with a side of polenta and vegetables. The snapper came with a light but savory butter sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly. This is a great place for lunch and dinner!
