We took our kids ages 5, 7, & 9 in late June. The hike was great, the falls were beautiful and flowing. We hiked up to the lookout area and then back down. We then drove around the Cheyenne Canyon. The drive was amazing. Rather were plenty of places to stop and take pics, rest, or just view the scenery. There are small one way tunnels on this route so it's good to honk your horn so that bikers, hikers, and other drivers can hear you. I'm not sure how long this trip took us but it is worth a half a day or more. It felt like it was just us and nature.

The parking is off road, which is nice after some of the other stops in Colorado. There are stairs to everything along the way which makes it very accessible to even a four year old. The views along the way were beautiful and the drive itself to the falls was very pretty and relaxed, just as everywhere else in the mountain area, keep your eye out for all the bikers.

What a beautiful waterfall. I was awe-stricken when I first saw it. The view from the top is even more spectacular. It's a great photo op.

We decided to turn up the road to Helen Hunt Falls just for the scenic ride through the canyon. We had no idea the falls were there until we came upon them. They were very pretty with a nice hiking trail to the top which gave you a stunning view of the mountains/canyon. If you continue on the road past the falls you come to a one lane dirt road that takes you back to Colorado Springs. If you are adventurous it's worth driving. It's a little nerve wracking but the views are stunning and the drive is exhilarating. There are a couple tunnels on the road as well that were really neat.

After having been to Seven Falls (which is right next door), Helen Hunt Falls is more beautiful and worth the time. Not to mention it is free. There is a short hike up to the top of the waterfall which is steep but worth the shortens breath. Worth a visit.
