“Very Interesting Place”

The tour was interesting and the castle was a fun place to visit. They have a nice religious bookstore and they also have other interesting books and unique items in the gift shop. Stay for high tea. It was a lovely experience.

“Beautiful and awesome experience”
Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

We made reservations about 2 months ago and they had our name on list at front gate and for high tea. The tour starts with a short video explaining the history thru various owners and what the castle is currently used for. Meetings, retreats, weddings and also as a lodging with many rooms available. The holiday madrigal celebration will be amazing. The castle tour visits several of the rooms that werent involved in some use. The great room had a lot of history. The tea was served in the music room with fine china tea cups and linen. The first plate is cold food, basically finger foods but the fork was nice for the lemon tart...my favorite. The hot food was served next, a small bite of three different things. This was a full meal and we were able to take unfinished items home. The scenery around the grounds, aspens in full fall color, had me taking many photos.

“no tour and poor service”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Waitress inattentive and unfriendly at the tea. Maybe too busy. Food pure sugar...unpalatable. Needed more real food on the plate and less junk. I've been to teas before and this was run of the mill. Nothing special. Choice of tea included iced according to menu, but waitress just couldn't seem to fill our request. Iced water plentiful, but no ice for tea. Hmmmm. Booked tour with our tea and paid for reservation. Later told there was no tour available due to a conference booking venue. So never got to see the place. Castle building is lovely, but tea room is a bit crowded and noisy. Would not go again.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We sincerely apologize that the quality of service you received while at Glen Eyrie was not what you expected or deserved. We can assure you that we are highly committed to improving the quality of the guest experience and your input is valuable to us.
As a working conference center, we try to balance the needs of the guests attending conferences with those who want to discover more about the castle by taking a tour. Sometimes we have large group events that prevent our tour guests from being able to see any of the castle rooms because they are in use. On these occasions, we find it necessary to cancel the castle tour to accommodate these events. We try very hard not to cancel the tours at the last minute, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. With any cancelled tour we do offer a full refund or a chance to reschedule on another day. We would love to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future!

“Beautiful Place with Interesting History”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

I took the tour of Glen Eyrie on a previous visit, and it is well worth the time and money to see the exquisite grounds and hear the story behind the castle. During my most recent visit, I went just for tea with a relative. Tea is served in what used to be the castle's music room and also out on the terrace. We were given a nice selection of teas to choose from (we each got to choose a tea). The food was just what I would have expected to have at a tea--little sandwiches, small skewers of fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, scones and Devonshire cream, tea biscuits (cookies). The best thing for me--we had requested a gluten free menu, and I didn't feel deprived. They provided gf options of all the things I previously mentioned, as well as a small green salad (I think they only provide the salad with the gf menu). We saw groups of all sizes enjoying tea that day--two people up to a large group of women and young girls. What to wear? Most women had nice sundresses on, but there were also people a little more casually dressed.

“Stunning area with a story to tell.”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Friends were part of the volunteers that provide up keep around the grounds and the "castle". We got tickets for the tour and were amazed with the history and and the story. Driving around the grounds we saw lots of long horned sheep and then turkey. Also saw the nests of the Golden Eagles.
