You have to make a reservation to visit Glen Eyrie. The property is gorgeous, and you probably will see wildlife (bighorn sheep, wild turkeys) roaming around. You can hike on certain days. You can take a tour of the castle. And you can have afternoon tea, which was a lovely way to visit with friends. We have also been to the Christmas madrigal dinner. I don't really remember the meal, but the setting, the music, the costumes -- it was like actually being guest at a medieval castle -- very Christmas-y! Put this on your list of places to take people from out of town.

We're so glad that you've enjoyed your many visits to Glen Eyrie! It certainly is a unique and wonderful place to spend time.
However, due to the destruction of last year’s Waldo Canyon Fire, the danger to hikers at Glen Eyrie is too great to allow the public on our trails. NO PUBLIC HIKING will be permitted on Glen Eyrie property until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience, and encourage you to check our website for any future policy updates (www.gleneyrie.org/hiking). We hope you’ll still consider coming for a visit and checking out the many other wonderful things that Glen Eyrie has to offer, such as an afternoon tea, a tour of the castle or relaxing in our bookstore/café. We look forward to seeing and serving you!

Great people and an absolutely amazing environment and scenery. The castle is really cool and a neat place to stay. Cool hiking trails and mountain goats surround the property. The perfect getaway for those in need of peace and solitude.

Many people don't know about this wonderful Castle. Please make sure you put it on your list. I bring everyone who visits me for a day here. My favorite way to spend time here is to attend a high tea inside the castle. It is very affordable and delicious! The scones are excellent! Then enjoy an incredible tour of the castle. This costs only $2 more and is a wow experience. After your tea and tour be sure and allow time to hike some of the property's trails-they are beautiful. Be sure and have your camera as on every visit I have had the opportunity to get up close to big horn sheep as well as deer and the peacocks that live on property. There are beautiful gardens, the castle of course, and the beautiful rock formations that this area is known for! Next door to this property is Garden of the Gods another not to be missed place in Colorado.

We planned a visit in mid-August, checked the website and called ahead to get a reservation on the tour. The website was inviting and the call response was only that there was no room left on the tour, so we drove out to visit on our own. On arrival we were met by a guard who somewhat bruskly told us that the site was occupied by a group who has visited during this week for many years, and that the grounds were not open to the public. They had multiple opportunities to communicate this beforehand and failed, wasting a good chunk of one of my precious vacation days.
Lesson learned - regardless of what you may find on the web site, don't visit here unless you have called and very specifically asked if they are welcoming tourists on the specific date and time of your visit.

Thank you for your thoughts! Our staff at Glen Eyrie is committed to making the necessary changes needed to improve your experience as a guest in the future. Unfortunately, in order to accommodate a wide variety of guests, we do have certain times where the property is closed to the general public, but we try to limit these times so that everyone can enjoy the beauty of our property. We apologize for the lack of communication that you experienced during your interactions with our staff and we hope that we will have the opportunity to serve you again and give you the level of service that you deserve!
