Have a WILD adventure at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo – see the animals, ride an antique carousel, eat a gourmet lunch at the Grizzly Grill and ride the Mountaineer Sky Ride to the Zoo’s summit. This zoo has come a long way towards providing the animals with a better more natural habitat while also giving visitors an up close experience. I have seen bears swim just on the other side of the big glass wall. One can feed crackers to giraffes. Try to go when it is feeding time for a particular animal type. It was great fun to see the hippos devour half water melons and then get their teeth brushed with a toilet brush! I have been told that this zoo is nicer then the famous San Diego Zoo. There is also an inside aviary where you can feed budgies. It is so exciting to seen these beautiful birds up close and sometimes have one come to sit on your arm.

The new african animal exhibit is excellent. Feeding the giraffes was the best! Nearly all of the animals are in natural enclosures and most are visible up close. The kids loved it!

Cheyenne Mtn Zoo is one of the most unique zoos you will ever visit! It is built into the side of a mountain, the animals all have spacious clean homes and look content and well cared for. You can feed the giraffes, pet a wallaby and see many varieties of animals up close. This is a great family venue, and at Christmas it is all lit up with hundreds of lights!

The location high on one flank of Cheyenne Mountain is what makes the zoo unique. It is a relatively small, but well run zoo.

Not the worlds greatest zoo, but for a city the size of Colorado Springs it is really quite nice and the giraffe's literally eat from your hands! Not too big to tire out the kids before you see it all, so enjoy.
