Owner description: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is America's ONLY mountain zoo. Large alpine habitats are home to over 950 different animals and approximately 180 species. All of your favorites are here - monkeys, hippos, tigers, elephants and bears (oh my!). Hand-feed their large reticulated giraffe herd, and experience animals up-close, like never before.

Not the worlds greatest zoo, but for a city the size of Colorado Springs it is really quite nice and the giraffe's literally eat from your hands! Not too big to tire out the kids before you see it all, so enjoy.

World's best mountain zoo. A bit pricey - locals get the annual pass and save a bunch. Great new exhibits and perfect view of the Broadmoor and city below.

“Most unique zoo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

I visited the zoo and was astonished by the only mountainside zoo. I had so much fun wandering around the different exhibits that were on different levels. You have the most beautiful view of Colorado Springs when you get towards the summit of the zoo. All of the animals are very close and it is a very intimate zoo. The friends that I went with also said that it is 100% better than the Denver Zoo and they will most definitely be back.

“Best zoo ever.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

I have never seen so many giraffe in one place, and trained so you can hand feed them. The zoo grounds are beautiful, and even though it can be a challenge to walk the inclines for those of us getting older, so very glad I did not miss this attraction. Rental of electric carts would be a nice addition because the point to point service was totally unreliable when we visited.

“Fun zoo and great workout all in one!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

The zoo is built on the Mountain so you get a great work visiting the animals. The giraffes are always our favorite and we spend plenty of time feeding them each trip! Each time we go to the zoo we learn something new and the best part is that the people who work with the animals really love both the animals and educating people about the animals. Seeing the new baby animals is always a great time as well. We had my grandsons birthday party at the zoo in June 2012 and it was amazing fun! We chose the giraffe package and could have stayed with them all day! This zoo has never disappointed!
