Have a WILD adventure at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo – see the animals, ride an antique carousel, eat a gourmet lunch at the Grizzly Grill and ride the Mountaineer Sky Ride to the Zoo’s summit. The first and favorite stop, especially for kids, is where you feed the giraffes as they stick out their purple tongues in your direction and grab a piece of lettuce. See photo at left. The zoo is on the side of Cheyenne Mountain, with wide paved pathways winding up and down, with a wide view of Colorado Springs below. The animals are well cared for, in generous habitats, and the staff and volunteers are always most cordial. A very positive zoo experience. Not just any zoo. There's also a lovely carousel and you can ride horses around a short ring. Kids love that too.

“Nation's Only Mountain Zoo!”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is the third best Zoo in the nation! Behind only the San Diego and St. Louis Zoos. The setting is beyond spectacular with amazing views of Colorado Springs and the Front Range as you enjoy some of the very best animal exhibits in the nation.

“Perfect zoo for little children”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

There were so many little children visiting the zoo with their parents. It is easier to see some animals than others. For example, there were lots of giraffes and they were in an enclosure that made it easy to feed them. Other animals were more difficult to see. Since is it built on the side of a mountain, be prepared to walk uphill a lot. The best thing to do is to start at the top and work your way down.

“Great Small Zoo!”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

This is an excellent zoo. Although parts of the zoo look old school there are so many wonderful new exhibits. Don't miss feeding the giraffes, the new baby gorilla or my big back yard!
