The first and favorite stop, especially for kids, is where you feed the giraffes as they stick out their purple tongues in your direction and grab a piece of lettuce. See photo at left. The zoo is on the side of Cheyenne Mountain, with wide paved pathways winding up and down, with a wide view of Colorado Springs below. The animals are well cared for, in generous habitats, and the staff and volunteers are always most cordial. A very positive zoo experience. Not just any zoo. There's also a lovely carousel and you can ride horses around a short ring. Kids love that too.
