Enjoyed the animals, very nice, clean well kept area to visit. Loved the closeness to the little chapel on the top of the mountain.

Near the entrance you can buy wafers to feed the giraffes -- there were at least 15 including adults and babies. They come right up to the rail! You also get a chance to watch grizzly bears up close through a room with a wall of glass so you can watch them swim and fish right in front of you! They have chosen many animals that are fun to watch -- like river otters and prairie dogs and monkeys. I wish more of the monkeys could have open habitats instead of the bars/cages. There is quite a bit of walking up hill if you are out of shape or having trouble breathing due to the altitude. You might find someone with a golfcart to help take you from place to place. This is a really nice zoo and worth the trip.

I always enjoy this zoo no matter what time of year or day we go. Great exercise and great animals.

Highlight: feeding the giraffes

We were in Colorado for 9 days and this was among the most fun we had. It was a beutiful day and this zoo is very unique in it's offerings. The Giraffe's are a great time. Never seen so many in one place. They all looked so healthy also. Getting to walk right in the area with the wallaby's is something else. The orangatun were very entertaining. We must have watched them for 1/2 an hour. The hippos were so close, actually all the exhibits make you feel like the animals are right there. Very clean and comfortable zoo. It is on the side of a mountain but as long as you take your time the walking doesn't seem to bad. We had 6 of us there, Grandma and Grandpa (71 * 77), mom and dad and a 7 and 10 yr old and we all left very happy.

There is no zoo I've ever enjoyed more, as an overgrown kid and with my own kids, than the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The giraffes alone are worth the trip and so are the views.
