The Chyeyenne Mountain Zoo is an outstanding zoo for a smaller city. The viewing areas are well done and the stafff presentations are well worth attending.

For a larger zoo operation, go to the Denver zoo; however, both zoos are unique and both merit a visit.

My teenage niece and I visited Cheyenne Mountain Zoo when she visited this summer. This was her first trip to a zoo, ever, and we had a great time walking around and seeing all the different exhibits. The highlight has to be the giraffes! You could really get up close and personal - in fact she was trying to take a picture and got licked! Everything from the little prarie dogs to the elephants and even a moose - this zoo pretty much has it all. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

My husband and I only had a short time to spend at the zoo but we LOVED the giraffe exhibit. You can buy lettuce leaves and feed the giraffes. Spectators are elevated so you are level with their heads. They come right over and stick that really long tongue out and wrap it around the lettuce you feed them. Really cool. Kids loved it. We also took the sky ride which was a great view of the area and scenery. If you've seen lots of mountains, you might want to save your money on the sky ride. Spend it on feeding the giraffes. We've been to many zoos and because of the giraffes this was one to be remembered.

This zoo had the best giraffe exhibit I have ever seen. Small and easy to do in about 2 hours. Lots of walking as it is placed on the side of a mountain. A member of our party was on crutches, so we rented a wheel chair. Animals were all on display and easy to see. Not big on reptiles or fish.

Added Bonus, Zoo admission gets you into a private exhibit of the Shrine of The Sun. Extraordinary architectural marvel in America.

I would skip this zoo if I were you! It's a weird mix of a newer zoo with some old enclosures with moneys and smelly hipppos. Very expensive too. Not worth it.
