The Mining Exchange A Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa
Ranked #5 of 104 Hotels in Colorado Springs
Certificate of Excellence

We stayed at a brand new hotel in downtown Colorado Springs that promises to be a popular destination for travelers to this vacation city. It opened a little over a month ago in what was many different businesses throughout the decades but was originally a stock exchange for gold and commodities, close to the gold fields of Colorado.

Since it was a stock exchange, there are vaults on every floor. They are now used as housekeeping rooms and we could walk in to see the inside.

It is so beautifully done: elegant, relaxing, unique, and abundantly welcoming. It is beautifully appointed in all aspects - the rooms, the lobby, the fantastic restaurant called Springs Orleans, and the bar area. No detail was left out. Prices are reasonable, too.

The hotel has so many of the latest features, radio wave entry to rooms, dual flush toilets, original art throughout including in every guest room, intensive reading lights by the beds, and granite galore.

Plush is the adjective to describe the furniture in the lobby, the beds, and the appointments in each room.

Springs Orleans restaurant was magnificent and I'm sure will become a destination for those of us who live in Colorado Springs. Beignets and delicious food from New Orleans is prepared with complex and pleasing results. From po' boys to red beans and rice, from gumbo to crawfish and vertical mini-cobb salads, from seafood and corn chowder soup to etouffee, we loved it all.

This new place right in the heart of downtown will take the guest out of our sleepy little town into the big time. I look forward to having guests who visit us in Colorado Springs call this place home while here.

I can't compliment the personnel enough, either. All were not only wanting to please us as guests, but seemed to genuinely love working there. Don't miss the Italian granite wall around the fireplace in the lobby. It is truly a work of art.

Room Tip: I don't know about many of the rooms but the one we stayed in, on the 4th floor was great: quiet...

The Mining exchange is new and beautiful, I guess the newness is part of the problem, everyone was very nice and the rooms are nice and clean ( new ), the problem we had was at 11:30 PM on our second night a Hotel employee tried to get into our room, opening the door and almost breaking the safety chain. ....he said he was trying to get in to check on something... he was apologetic, but it certanially ruined the rest of our night, with no one getting any sleep.

It is always a disappointment when we don't live up to the expectations of our guests, and an uninvited houseman entering you room, regardless of his reason, is certainly a way to disappoint. As you mentioned, we had just opened and there was an unfortunate miscommunication that lead our overnight houseman to believe your room was vacant. We have since had extensive training with all of the staff resulting in redundant systems for identifying occupied rooms, clearer and simpler communication, and new policies restricting staff memebers from entering any rooms overnight for reasons other than being asked to enter by the guest, or in emergency situations.
I recall speaking with you upon your departure, and again sincerely apologize for your last night with us being disrupted in such a way. If there is anything I can do to make this right for you, please don't hesitate to contact me at tsherman@wyndham.com. Please trust that something like this will never happen at The Mining Exchange, A Wyndham Grand Hotel again.

After spending 8 glorious nights in this new addition to Colorado Springs' downtown, we are still smiling over the unforgetable experience. For three years, after moving from the area, we stayed at the Antlers. During the last 3 stays, in this extremely tired over priced hotel, we felt like we were "settling" because they were the only hotel in the main downtown. The horrible managers cared little for their repeat customers so we started to stay far from our beloved downtown. Welcome Wyndham, it was a welcome relief to be treated as important guests at the brand new establushment. The staff, without asking, went out of their way to make our stay flawless. The room was warm, welcoming and extremely quiet. Bathrooms are spacious and the double shower heads are wonderful. Our room had a small foyer with pocket doors for additional privacy and hallway noise control. The hotel lobby, situated on a great people watching corner, is furnished in large comfortable sofas and chairs, great for meeting a client or friends. Service staff makes sure their visitors are well taken care of. Located within walking distance of many fantastic restaurants, bars, a wonderful indpendent Movie Theater, Starbucks and Pikes Perk Coffee shop it is hard to want for more. We entertained friends and family in the delicious Springs Orleans cajun resraurant attached to the Wynham. All front desk personnel as well as valet team and housekeeping exceeded our expectations. We are from Colorado Springs but now live out of state. It is wonderful to have a new home away from home.

We are locals in Colorado Springs, and stayed for one night to "get away". We have also stayed at other downtown hotels and don't waste your money elsewhere. The Springs-Orleans restaurant is next store and offers a wonderful atmosphere too. Do not miss it! The hotel is brand-new, squeaky clean and fabulous! You walk in to your room and just go "wow". I can't say enough about the shower design with double shower-heads and gorgeous tile work. Not something you see everywhere. Everything you would expect from a Wyndam, and walking distance to everything that downtown COS has to offer. You can't go wrong. The rooms offered luxury in every detail--wonderful bedding, tasteful decor, REAL artwork, spacious bathrooms. This building has a lot of history--where miners would cash in their gold from the mountains. Each floor has preserved an old safe. This hotel is great...

Although we live in town, getting downtown is a rare event for us. I booked an overnight at this new hotel for my husband's 50th as a surprise getaway and it was just perfect! It was easy to sleep in because the black-out curtains were very effective, and the beds luxuriously comfortable. Excellent service and beautiful rooms-although a little oddly-shaped due to the conversion from a historic building. The old photos and vault doors were a charming reminder of the oiginal purpose of the property. I especially liked the double shower-head shower and all the "green" features of the hotel. Definitely make use of the adjoining restaurant, Springs Orleans, for room service or any meal of the day. The food and service were excellent. There are a number of other wonderful eateries within walking distance as well. We took in a movie at Kimball's theater just a few doors down--the best movie house--a coffee/wine bar are avaiable in addition to the usual candy and soda movie fare, and the popcorn is the best around. REAL butter makes all the difference! The seats are larger and the legrom more generous than most other movie houses today. We didn't even have time to take advantage of the nearby museums and parks on this outing, but there is no shortage of possibilites for visitors of all ages. An excellent use of one of our historic sructures--well suited to stays for business or pleasure. A great lobby and bar with lots of seating makes an inviting gathering spot.

We travel a lot both for business and pleasure, and I can tell you I wish there were a 'Mining Exchange' in each city we visit! This place has everything you would expect in a fine hotel - extremely courteous and professional service, complete cleanliness and nicely decorated rooms with slab granite, artwork, etc. While this hotel has been around for a long time, there is nothing dated about it's appearance, given its recent complete renovation. The staff will be happy to take you on a tour and tell you about this hotel's interesting history. The location is hard to beat as well.
Now for the restaurant - wow! The chef at 'Springs Orleans' will give you a taste of Louisiana's best dishes.
Needless to say, we will be back.

Superb service, the Best I have ever experienced!!! My room was fresh, plush, gorgeous and IMMACULATE!! The Attention to detail was phenomenal. Jason & Rob, offered the fastest and most efficient curb service a lady could ask for. Jeremy, F&B Manager was simply a dream to chat with.
Soft and beautiful piano music fills the reception area with elegance. Felicia, the director of housekeeping offered to run my bath, get me champagne and walk my little dog. Mining Exchange where have you been all my life? I will be back... you can count on that!!!

Thank you to the Team. Great Job!!
