First time trying Jamacian food and will definitely have it again especially at this restaurant! There was not one bad thing said about the dishes we tried, actually it was either very good or great. Highly recommend this restaurant!

“Vegan friendly wonderful Jamaican Restaurant”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

While in Colorado Springs recently, I had the pleasure of eating at Spice Island Grill. It was a treat! Located across from Pikes Peak College in downtown Colorado Springs, they serve authentic Jamaican food in a clean and pleasant atmosphere. The vegetarian sandwich on Jamaican cocoa bread was delicious with asparagus, onions, mushrooms, carrots, and lettuce smothered in a fabulous Jamaican jerk sauce. With this was sweet potato fries which were equally as good. The only negative thing I can say about this restaurant is it took a while for the food to come out. But, it was worth the wait!!

“Authentic & Affordable”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

We'd been here before, and loved it, but this time tried the curry chicken for lunch and it was absolutely wonderful. In addition to its amazingly flavorful dishes individually prepared from scratch, Spice Island Grill offers a friendly atmosphere that transports anyone who ever has been to Jamaica right back there for the hour or so you spend in the restaurant. Service is "laid back" just as it is in the Caribbean, so if you're in a big hurry, I suggest ordering one of the new sandwich items off the fairly new lunch menu. Otherwise sit back, relax and patiently wait to treat your taste buds in an absolutely refreshing environment.

“Great food and friendly staff”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

We've eaten at the Spice Island Grill a couple of times now and the food was consistently good, full of flavor and spice. The menu has items for the adventurous spice lovers and the faint of heart. Anything made with the jerk seasoning is wonderful; be prepared for it to take your breath away, literally. The Brown Stewed Chicken and Sweet and Tangy Ribs are on the other end of the spectrum, full flavor with no heat at all. The sides are nice, but nothing extraordinary. The Rice and Peas is average with very few "peas" (beans), the mac and cheese is good but small, and the side salad is plain (the Balsamic dressing is pretty good). The desserts are always good. Our only critique is on the service. The owner/chef and her family are wonderful people but they're still working out the kinks of a new restaurant. The first time we went with friends on the weekend and we ate in the main section; we had a dedicated server who was polite, efficient, and helpful. The second time we went on a week night and the main section didn't have a table for two (though there were many with four chairs); we were seated in the bar and forgotten for much of the evening. The one server (the owner's daughter) was working there exclusively. We had to initiate the request for taking our order and getting a bill from the owner (doubling as the bartender), after a long wait for each; our water glasses were never topped off. We'll be back because the people are great and the food is good and not very expensive, but we'll try harder to sit in the main section so we will get some attention.
