“Won't go back”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Waaay overpriced. Combo is now $17 and the portions are smaller and come with one small order of rice; add $1.30 for a second order. Nothing special in the atmosphere or place settings; nothing special with the food; very little flavor. We arrive 7pm Saturday evening; only one other couple eating. Waiter was new (friendly but didn't know menu). Diner was worth half of what it cost.

“Excellent food: nicely spiced food; good service”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

We visited the Curry Leaf for the second time, and were, once again, very pleased with the food and the service. However, this will be the last time we visit them . . . at THIS location north of downtown Colorado Springs . . . since they are moving to the northeast part of town?! Good for them; bad for us since our drive will now be longer, but drive we will. The lunch special was chicken curry, dahl (lentil) curry, and bread. The chicken had a hearty dark gravy while the lentils had just the right amount of burn for us. The portions were large, for lunch. The flat bread was warm and yummy. When we asked for a take home container, we were offered fresh rice to go with it. The pineapple tea was lightly flavored. (On our earlier visit, we enjoyed the Sri Lankan tea which I think is made with coconut milk.)

“Good service, food questionable”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

We stopped here for Lunch on the way to Denver. Arrived around 1:15pm on Saturday only to find an empty restaurant. We were greeted very well and we decided to stay an eat. Out server was very nice and carefully explained the menu to us. My wife is vegetarian so she ordered Dahl curry (lentils) upon their recommendation with Rice. Food arrived almost immediately (~5 mins). I ordered Fish curry, which was delicious and I loved it. But to our surprise the Dahl curry was cold and stale (seemed atleast a few days old) and poorly microwaved. We told them and they said that the Sri Lankan spices are different and sometimes need an acquired taste. We both have spend most part of lives in south India and eat lentils on daily basis. IT WAS STALE and nothing less. We even spotted the cook microwaving food in the kitchen. This could be the case with vegetarian dishes that are rarely ordered by guests but Dahl curry was recommended to us by them so go figure.

“Great homemade food”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

My wife and I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend, and we were blown away. We tried the Chicken Curry, Dahl, and Deviled Beef. We also ordered the Roti which is the traditional Sri Lankan bread. All of the food was superb. We enjoy spicy food, so we ordered it on the high end of medium spice and it had some serious kick to it. Lana, the owner, was really charming and assured us that the food could be made quite mild if requested. We have never had Sri Lankan food before and expected something like Indian food. This was similar, yet very different, and way better.
