We ate at the Penrose in August of 2011. We found it to be such a disappointment that, even when paid for, we wouldn't return. We found the selections to be very limited and the meal, overall, to be unremarkable. I was hungry when we left. I wouldn't eat there again. Like all food at he Broadmoor, it is far less than I would expect.

This place is very pricey, but well worth it. The restaurant makes you feel special just being there. We each had the 4 course meal, including 2 appetizers, entree and dessert. They were all fabulous!! I had the sushi salmon appetizer, a caesar salad prepared tableside, the filet mignon and a pound cake dessert. Everything was exquisite!! Highly recommend for a special occasion!!

The Penrose Room, atop one of the several towers of the Broadmoor Hotel has a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains, be there before sundown. The menu is original and diverse, with a good selection. The bisque is recommended as well as the sea bass. Has a decent wine list. The decor is a bit outdated, yet may be attractive for some. Has a live orchestra and dancing available, which maybe detracts a bit from the conversation but is a welcome alternative for many.

Go for the wine paired 7 cvourses. You will not regret it! Lila & the band are exceptionally good, too.

As you get off the elevator, hidden near the window, is a plaque. To paraphrase, it says, "The Penrose Room, Rated One of the Best in the WORLD for 2012." Nothing could be more true! From the moment you get off the elevators you take a step back in time to when dining was truly an experience. And, don't let the ambiance fool you, this experience is a 21st century treat.

This is our sixth visit to this wonderful place. We tend to save this for special events. Believe me, you can not and will not go wrong and just like everything in life, there is a price to pay. The service was impeccable and the food world class. Many times, this type of restaurant can be overbearing. Not the case here. If you have a question, or would like to modify the menu slightly, just let them know. This time, we ordered the four-course dinner and we asked if they could also do wine pairings with the courses. Without hesitation the answer was "of course!"

If you're looking for a special place for a very special experience, this is definitely a World Class experience.
