First let me start with the good... the views are amazing, the overall setting as you enter the lobby is great as well. The guestrooms, however, need an extensive makeover. The carpet is teal, there is carpet in the bathroom sink area, the sinks are made of corrian (not granite), the bed frame is a simple metal frame and the TV is still a tube TV. I believe for the amount they charge, you should get a more up to date room.

Stayed in the "golf cottages". Had read prior reviews that said they "needed updating". That is one way to put it. If you are a fan of the late 50's early sixties "international style" that then had a redo in the eighties, this is the place for you. My husband played golf with some people that stay the summer in the area, and their story is that when the golf course was first developed by the Hunt family in-laws, they needed a place to put up visiting socialite friends. They built the cottages for the friends- that is why the focus of the cottages is on large dressing rooms ( the master bedroom dressing rooms - yes there are TWO- are bigger than the kitchen) to attend the summer cocktail parties. For the modern family on a vacation it is surprising that a motel off the freeway is more modern in furnishings. Confusion as to WHAT we had booked continued up until the minute of check in, despite countless e-mails and phone calls. TV in main room ( a 19 inch CRT) took two days to get fixed. Stove in kitchen had one functional burner out of four. Wifi was next to nonexistant, depsite the attractive piece of coax draped across the master bedroom patio. For half the price, I would have found it amusing, but for the price charged, I would recommend looking somewhere else. Beds were fine, location was good and the maid service came every day. We ate at the golf club grill one night and HIGHLY recommend it - excellent food, service and a view to remember.

The best hotel we have ever stayed in, with what must be one of the finest views in the world. Quiet and peaceful and really not that expensive for what you get. We stayed 5 nights in a beautiful room - and not even one of the "best" rooms. Never saw anyone pass our ground floor terrace and interrupt the sublime view - ah yes, there were a few deer that wandered past.
Lovely pool, nice bar with free buffet twice a week. Classy restaurant which we didn't dine in, though we had a very nice meal on room service.
So many lovely things to see and do in the area., including the wonderful Rock Ledge Ranch just down the road, and of course the amazing and aptly named Garden of the Gods (get out there early in the morning).
Can't wait to go back. Just astonishing.

Stayed in the golf cottages located away from main hotel for USAFA graduation. Surprised to find they had just opened them up that week and it was like stepping back in time. They were obviously built in the 50's or 60's and still look that way but were very spacious. Two very large bedrooms and 3 huge closets plus a kitchen, living room, pantry with washer and dryer, and patios. Right on golf course. Beds were very nice. Apparently they were built as summer cottages for people who used to rent them for the entire summer season. They need to be renovated but the person at the front desk said they were slated to be torn down. We didn't see another soul while we were their so it was lovely and quiet. Service was excellent and we used the kitchen had everythingwe needed to cook a meal. The extra spa was wonderful since we had a lot of family with us. I would recommend them if you are looking for more room than the standard hotel room and don't mind the older style. Kind of like staying in an older lake cottage but with someone coming in to clean every day and better beds! Spa was also very nice at main hotel.

My husband planned a three day weekend for us, celebrating our first wedding anniversary, and booked us a two night stay here. I didn't really know what to expect, but I knew how much he spent so I figured it was going to be really nice. Even so, I was still amazed by this place. Our room had a "five-piece" bathroom, which we never figured out how it was five really, but it was beautiful and spacious with two separate sinks, one with a vanity seat, and a walk-in closet. Robes were included with the room and were extremely comfy. I wish I could've taken them home. The room itself looked a little old-fashioned maybe, but it fit the setting with the green carpet, green "marble" gas burning fireplace and sort of south-western style furniture. The best feature by far was the walk-out patio. This room was extremely private, as the patio walked out on a green belt before falling away to a breath-taking view of the Garden of the Gods. Just sitting out on that patio was so relaxing and romantic. Our first morning we were surprised to find a group of deer (or elk?) right outside our patio door. We found they showed up off and on during the day, and the second morning there, we found about 5 or 6 of them lounging around on the green belt. It was just an amazing experience to wake up and find them outside your window.

We didn't get to visit their fitness center or spa, so I can't comment on those other than saying that we did take a peak at their gym and it was huge and well equipped. I would have really liked to have gotten a morning workout in while we were there. We did get to visit their outdoor pool the morning we left and found it had view just as stunning as that from our room. We would have liked to stay at the pool longer since it was so relaxing.

While I still can't believe we spent as much as we did on the room, and because of it we couldn't afford any of the food (we had been hoping to have breakfast in bed one morning) it was worth every penny. We both hope that we'll be able to return some day, perhaps for another anniversary celebration. I would highly recommend the Garden of the Gods Club to anyone wanting a relaxing, romantic retreat.

What a beautiful place--it deserves to have better staff, better services and better food. The food was memorably awful. I loved the setting, but I won't be back.

The upscale ambiance was spectacular with a natural wood burning fireplace, and from the dining room, a lighted view of the well groomed outside lawns, bushes, pond, and trees with the Garden of the Gods Park in the background. The pork tenderloin cuts were somewhat tough requiring a steak knife and even then it took some effort. The salad with candied nuts, separated greens, a lump of bleu cheese, and a somewhat hard pear did provide some pleasing tastes, but was somewhat disjointed. The service was good although a request for a steak knife took some time to satisfy. Overall it was a very pleasant October, 2008, evening.
