We recently had the opportunity to spend 5 nights at the Garden of the Gods Club. It was an incredible experience with the views of the Garden of the Gods with Pikes Peak in the background looking just like the great photos you see. We had access to the small fitness room in the Lodge and to the very nice fitness center located across the street at the Kissing Camels Golf Club. We were off season so didn't get a chance to play the 27 hole golf course. Being off season we had a great rate and enjoyed fabulous food at Garden of the Gods Club. The Garden of the Gods Visitors Center is located just down the hill from the Club and give a great overview of the history and geology of the Garden of the Gods. It is free and has a great gift shop. The Garden of the Gods is a city park, is free and is an otherworldly experience. There is lots more to do in the area so getting a terrific rate at the Lodge and visiting the nearby sights is a wonderful way to spend fall days.

Back to the Garden of the Gods Club, the staff was terrific and always wanted to know what else they could do for you. Any minor glitches were remedied with a smile.

In the interest of full disclosure this property was recently purchased by a local group who intends to return it to its former lofty status and add a world class wellness facility. We do know several of the new owners, but do not believe that affects our ability to review the property, the service and the experience.

Room Tip: all the rooms have the fabulous views. We had the choice of staying over the restaurant and bar or...

Colorado Springs ranks among my favorite destinations within the US and the Lodge at Garden of the Gods is easily one of the reasons why. I recently had the opportunity to visit on a road trip with a few close friends back in spring and booked the lodge solely on the sheer percentage of TripAdvisor photos featuring wildlife. Oh the superb views, attention to quality service, and quantity of five dot reviews played a part as well. But let's be honest, we're all here for the sheer amount of bunnies.

Pros:

Location - You can't get much closer to the Garden of the Gods. The only structure closer than the lodge is the visitor center. (I'm not sure they'd be too keen with you sleeping there anyways) Each room at the lodge offers a spectacular view of the park; here garden view isn't code word for hedges in front of the parking lot. The way the building curves allows all rooms to be forward facing; as far as I can tell this means every view is spectacular.

Rooms - Large, clean and full of convenience. The beds are extremely comfortable and positioned to provide a great view of the large vista windows. Of note, I'm not clear if every room has a fireplace, but I'd fully recommend requesting one if they don't. (The bathroom itself is a bit smaller than what you might expect but the massive sink/closet space makes up for that in spades.)

Ease of access - You're in an area that defines getting away from it all but you're less than a 5 minute drive from the conveniences of Manitou/Colorado Springs. The road up to the lodge is nutty at night though.

Cons:

Honestly? Nothing to complain about here. The cell phone policies and the suit jacket dress code for the dining room are completely minor at best. Our only regret about the trip was not staying longer. Also a raccoon/bear/large land-bearing mammal left prints on our car. That's not a complaint though.

Would I stay here again?
Not even a question. Planning on returning with my friends/girlfriend/family/people I know on Facebook/co-workers/anyone-interested-in-paying-my-way as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Room Tip: Request the ground floor. The patio space is more than worth it.

What a find! This place is worth every penny, and while we got a very decent rate, knowing what a gem this place is will bring us back again and (I hope!) again! The mountain views are extraordinary! The facilities are immaculate, and the service was wonderful throughout the facility.

The staff in all areas are friendly, down to earth, and very proud of their facility. They are helpful and kind people, from the front desk and restaurant, to the spa, to the housekeeping staff. They made our stay special, and obviously take pride in their establishment.

The best part for me was swimming outside in a pool that has an infinity pool that looks straight at Pike's Peak and the mountain range. So beautiful that it is beyond description. I couldn't stop smiling!

We brought guests there for breakfast, and believe me, this is not your typical "hotel' food. The menu is varied, and everything is delicious. Deep fried French toast anyone? Fantastic!

The rooms are clean as can be, and while some extra artwork on the walls would be nice, the furnishings are clean and comfortable. The view is astounding, with wooden sliding shutters that reveal a full mountain view from your bed! The amenities are very nice, and there is ample room for a girl to get dressed. The rooms were obviously planned with every possible comfort in mind for men and women.

There was not one aspect I would change, and I have actually never seen that before in my travels. I can't wait to go back! Treat yourself, and you won't be sorry! My compliments to the staff and management! Bravo!

Room Tip: I believe that all the rooms have great views, but be sure to ask for one with a balcony or patio...

I'll be brief for a change. So many hotels never match up with the pictures or reviews. But we were pleasantly surprised. Front desk service resolved a minor hiccup quickly and effectively. View from the room reminded me of a post card picture. We needed a kitchen utensil and it was delivered to our room within minutes. Room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. Didn't have time for the spa but it looked fabulous. For the money, better than the Broadmoor or Cheyenne which are both great in their own ways.

Really amazing spot. Enjoy the view of the Garden of the Gods from any room just after sunrise - it is unforgettable! Short trip to the Gardens and well worth it, then drive on to Pikes Peak. A day you will remember for the rest of your life.

The restaurant is superb and prices are most reasonable.

A great visit, and would return here without any concerns.

The location is awesome, but it's too bad this hotel/motel has not kept up with the times. It clearly needs to be updated to warrant calling itself a resort, or at least be on par with the lovely cliffside views and the beautiful nearby modern homes. Its current appeal still seems to be aimed at the 70 to 80 yr-old crowd who is comfortable with 1950 decor.
The room itself was very large, including a huge dual bathroom & walk-in closet, but the color scheme, furniture, & peeling old wallpaper in the tub area were disappointing. And I was personally disgusted over having to look at someone else's old cigarette butts that were left on the patio table.
Our worst criticism is that this hotel surprised us at check-out with a ridiculous RESORT FEE of $15 per night!!!! We take offense at being gouged surreptitiously for "extras" which should be typically included with the price of a room.
If it wasn't for the spectacular view and natural beauty of the Garden of the Gods we wouldn't consider staying there again, but if management ever gets with the times and does some renovation & REMOVES the RESORT FEE, we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Some rooms open to the outside like a motel, and the interior hotel-like hallways are locked at nigh...
