If you enjoy nature and being outside, this is a great place to visit with the family.
We didn't allow enough time to explore. If you want to get out and walk around the park, plan to spend the day there.
We decided to take the jeep tour of the park, the price wasn't to bad and the driver knew the park very well and could tell us about each formation we went by.
There is a nice gift shop plus a trading post inside the park.

Come see a rock concert of sorts, not the kind you hear but the kind you just see.
If you are in the Colorado Springs area and have 1-2 hours to spare, you need to drive through this place. A large array of surrealistic looking rock formations and trees make for some really unique scenery. The iron content in the soil also gives the rocks a varying amount of red which adds to the visual effects.

The place looks especially nice in the evening when the sun is setting just right and illuminating the rocks at a certain angle.

There are plenty of pull-offs along the road where you can stop and take some scenic pictures. Don't miss out on a chance to get your picture taken while you are holding up the Balancing Rock! That is a must do item.

It may be just rocks and trees, but everyone will enjoy this excursion and be glad you drove through.

We were victims of the US government shutdown - had comprehensively planned a visit to Colorado and Wyoming in October 2013. Won't go on about the plan - however this stop made up for some of the things we missed getting to see.
What a wonderfully scenic, compact, well planned and FREE place to visit.
This municipal park is unique, and not only because it is kept open by a forward thinking resident who bequeathed the lands to the town of Colorado Springs. The rock formations, the carefully thought out walking paths, are a joy to locals and tourists alike. We were fortunate to find out about it in time to include it in our rapidly changing plans - and we are all lucky it didn't noticeably suffer in the 2013 floods in the immediate area.
I hope anybody reading this who plans to visit the area takes the time to include this in your itinerary.

My husband & I visited while on a business trip to Denver. This place is free & offers spectacular views. We drove thru twice at different times of the day while we were staying nearby in Manitou. Saw a couple of deer while driving on the side of the road so be sure & be on the lookout while your driving. Pretty rock formations throughout the drive make for gorgeous photos. We saw a couple having wedding pictures done & what looked like a girl having senior pictures taken in a vintage truck when we visited. The view of the mountains with snow on them was pretty also. If I was in the area, I would definitely visit again just to see the view at different times of the day. Also, note the time of year when going. We went in October & the bathrooms were already closed for the season.
