“It's a must-see in Colorado!”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Our group of six (ranging from 6-year-old to 75-year-old) loved the Garden of the Gods! The red sandstone formations are simply amazing. This beautiful park was donated to the state of Colorado by a family over a hundred years ago with one condition. It will remain FREE for everyone in the world to explore! Just go...you will love it!

BTW...we were lucky to have seen it, because the day after we visited, it was evacuated due to the Waldo Canyon fire! As of now, it has not be affected by the fire! Thank you firefighters!

“Beautiful”

Clean nice walking paths with maps (although we had to get the maps from the visitors center but it was just right across the street)

“Peaceful and beautiful”

These formations are like parts of Utah, except without the heat. Great photo opportunities wherever you look. It would be a shame to visit Colorado Springs and not visit Garden of the Gods.

God was working overtime when these formations were created. The walking/biking paths are exceptional;. The visitor center is really cool.

“Beautiful sights - Look for nature programs”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

We walked on our own through some areas of Garden of the Gods, and then chanced to see a nature walk with a guide that we joined. This was a very information tour with a volunteer guide, telling us about the history of the park, native plants and animals, and other anecdotes. There are trails, and also very accessible paved walkways through the main area that are convenience for strollers, wheelchairs, or those who may have difficulty walking. Beware - much of the area is very open and will be hot and unshaded in the summer.

We chanced to see a "Bat Walk" program at the visitor center and came back to join the program that evening. A volunteer leader led a introductory talk at the visitor center, and then we drove to a parking lot in the park, re-assembled, and hiked a short way to watch the bats come out at dusk. It was a very enjoyable, informative, and unusual way to spend an evening!
