Unless you're going to the AFA for a specific event like a cadet parade, football game, etc., it's pretty dead. The views are amazing and there are tons of jogging and hiking trails. Don't expect to see many cadets - the cadet area is closed to visitors. The visitor's center has some neat exhibits and the gift shop is really well stocked with some cool offerings if you have AF pride.

If you are in the area this is a nice little side trip. There is a short film at the visitors center. The chapels are very beautiful and the views from the grounds are quite impressive.

The main attraction for a general visitor is the chapel. This is an amazingly beautiful structure that celebrates four faiths. The main "chapel" sanctuary is certainly much larger than most church sanctuaries and features an amazingly fabulous organ. From the chapel area, you can survey most of the grounds with dormitories and classrooms, parade area, commons, and de-commissioned airplanes parked around it. If you are interested in getting a glimpse of where many of our military leaders are trained, you've got to go! Turns out that each of our academies also hosts students from foreign countries around the world.

The Air Force Academy has a beautiful campus surrounded by mountains. It has a Visitor's Center showing an interesting film. Be prepared to walk a lot to see the campus and the chapel.

I was so proud of my sister when she graduated from this Academy.

The inside of the chapel is so beautiful and it was fun attending church inside of it with my sister and my parents!
