The USAF is a usual stop when we have guests in town. The chapel is an engineering marvel, the grounds are pretty. Visitor Center is interesting. Take in a football game if your schedule coincides.

The visitor center was very nice, but the highlight is the cathedral. What an amazing architectural masterpiece! The staff is very friendly and informative. The cathedral is about a 10 minute walk from the visitor's center, and it's an easy walk. You'll be amazed by the cathedral as you approach it. This is a definite MUST DO!

We stopped for a quick visit. Enjoyed the walk from the visitor center to the chapel. The Chapel is beautiful. Also saw the film at the visitor center, but it was geared more toward potential students than tourist. I'd skip the film unless you have teenagers considering attending the academy. We spent a pleasant hour there and would recommend it.

The chapel is worth the short drive in and of itself. Huge gift shop.

Living in Colorado Springs, I take the Academy for granted. When I took the time to visit, I gained a lot of perspective. The Visitor's Center gives a peek into the lives of cadets as well as the history of USAFA. The Chapel is gorgeous- you just have to catch it when it's open and not in use. I recommend visiting in the fall as it's less crowded (except October).
