“Great BBQ for a Small Town”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Obie's has really good BBQ for being such a small town. They actually smoke their meat there, and you can smell the smoke when you pull up (and you can see the wood piles out back, too). The Pulled Pork Sandwich is a good meal, and filling with just the sandwich and one side. There were three sauces to choose from on the table: smokey, honey, and spicy. Not the absolute best BBQ I've ever had, but certainly the best BBQ in town!
Strange fact: they have a Drive Thru.

“Rude employees, terrible food and filthy environment.”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

My husband and I stopped in on our way home from San Isabel. The service was terrible ( not one friendly or courteous employee in the place). The food was inedible and there where individuals who were obviously underage drinking in the bar area. The State liquor board should investigate.

“Finally quanitity meets quality”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

A lot of times when the size of the portion is large then the quality of the food suffers. Obies is not one of those places. We stopped for Sunday lunch on our way back home. We had not eaten yet in the day so we were hungry. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and the 3-meet combo plate to share for dinner. We barely finished the nachos. We actually had to ask for extra chips. The amount of meet on the nachos was outstanding, the taste of the nachos was completely awesome. The three meet combo plate was so good that we continued to eat way past our fill. Awesome place will stop everytime i go by

“Good food in an area with limited choices”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

We found ourselves hungry for lunch as we passed thought Colorado City on a family vacatoin this past weekend. Based on a few prior reviews Obies looked like the likeliest spot in town. Although it isn't the best barbecue I've ever had, that really isn't a fair comparison as I've made a point of going to some of the very best throughout the country. It is very good, however. The ribs had a niced smoked taste and were very meaty, brisket was tender and very good, and I had the smoked chicken which I liked as well. Sides were nothing special but the Green Chile stew was very good with nice big chunks of pork and good flavor. It could make a good meal on its own. We had bluebell ice cream for dessert.

“So long, Obies, It's been good to "no" you!”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

I have been to this restaurant many times since they opened. Food's O.K., (Portions keep shrinking, and quality control is just so-so) service is usually spotty. Servers don't seem to last long. We stopped by Friday at the end of an 11 hour drive. Same. Today, (Sunday) my brother in law saw a sign in Pueblo advertising a free appetizer with the order of an entree. He wanted to go, so we packed up 2 cars, 7 people and drove the 50 mile round trip. When we sat down, we mentioned the advertisement he had seen. Our request was 2 free appetizers for the 7 of us. The server stated she was told it was limited to one per table, but she would try. Almost immediately, a man came out of the back and without introducing himself (Owner, cook, who knows?) and stated "Only one free appetizer per table". As we were two seperate groups, and were paying seperately, (4 and 3) I asked if seperate checks would allow 2 apps. He stated "No, that would be like if 3 people came in together and order 3 free appetizers on 3 seperate checks. Only one free!" Now I'm no math genious, but 2 apps for 7 people who drove 2 vehicles 50 miles to eat at your restaurant (that probably cost him less than a dollar to make) is not at all like 3 for 3. It is however, enough to make me not return. There are other BBQ restaurants in town that appreciate their customers more than saving $1.00 and pissing them off. Sorry, but we won't make that trip again!
