“Cutty's is our home away from home!”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

We go almost every summer and stay in a Cozy Cabin. It is secluded and everyone is always so friendly! There are plenty of things to do on-site: mini golf, horseshoes, tennis, arcade games, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, and so much more! Plus, there are many close, off-site activities: whitewater rafting being one of our favorites! Even though it is secluded, it is just about a 2 hour drive to Colorado Springs, about 30 minutes to Salida, and about an hour drive to the Royal Gorge! Cutty's will always be a go to place for us... our home away from home!

We attended a wedding at this campground. It is set in a beautiful mountain valley about 20 minutes from Salida. Many of the cabins and campsites are along a mountain stream. The resort has a lot of free activities like shuffleboard, mini-golf, tennis, pool. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. On Sundays they cook breakfast for the guests for a minimal charge. Would recommend.

This place was really neat. Gives "camping" a nice twist. My kids had a great time and were entertained the entire time. There was plenty of things to do for the whole family. They enjoyed the pool (they had 2 nice pools, indoor and outdoor - very clean and well kept). Miniature golf was a favorite, ping pong, tether ball, and many more options. My son was really looking forward to fishing and the only place nearby was the creek, it was so shallow we never took out the poles. We were able to take our dog with us, he enjoyed it too. We stayed in a cabin which was nice but very small, I was a little surprised because I expected a full bath in the cabin and it was only a toilet, no shower, also there was only cold water in the cabin, which again was a surprise but I did not let this dampen our good time, we made it work and used the bath houses which were nice. Also, you have to take your own linens and towels. We were able to build a campfire and we enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful mountain air. Breakfast was really good, a little pricey for a family, and they did not have milk. The staff was really great, they were so friendly and helpful and that is always a huge plus in my book. The resort is older and could probably use some updating and some repairs but overall it was a good time and we all agreed we would like to return.

Room Tip: Don't forget your linens and towels.

My wife and I stayed for 10 nights June/July, 2013 as RPI members and thoroughly enjoyed it. We even had deer near our motorhome. The staff was helpful and one even recommended we visit Westcliffe nearby and we loved that town and road to it. There was free wi-fi in the clubhouse though at times hard to get. Wish this place was closer to our home in California! Iryna & Jim

We had 2 campsites. 5 kids, 3 to 6 yrs old. Had to clean up one site, had dog poop & litter. We had a wonderful time, stayed 2 nights. This place is BIG.

There are 2 pools, 1 indoor, 1 outdoors - no life guards though - so we had to act as human shields in the pool as teenagers were throwing a leather football around and didn't seem to care that there were littles in the pool. They did leave after we asked them to maybe move the game to the deeper side of the pool. The pool was clean (we did not use indoor pool).

Mini golf was a big hit - but as title says, this place is a little worn. Needs some sprucing up. At the mini-golf some of the timbers were loose, if tripped over they'd flip only to expose sharp screws. Pokey wire to hold gate closed is at kid eye level. Repairs need to be done here before someone hurts themselves. The playground is serviceable, but only has 2 swings, 2 seesaws, and a quaint child size neighborhood buildings to play in. A slide/monkey bars would be a welcome addition.

We loved the creek - lots to explore along it.

Bathrooms were clean, plenty of hot water. By our second morning though, 2 out 3 stalls were out of toilet paper.

Lots of RV's. 1 neighboring RV had a dog out one night that whined all night. That had nothing to do with the resort - just the fellow camper. Dog owners did obey leash law. No unleashed dogs were seen.

There was family friendly karaoke one night, that was fun!
Didn't use, but there was horse shoe place, shuffle board, volleyball, nearby hiking, horses, & tennis. Also a lounge & cabins.

So this place is in a beautiful setting with plenty to do. Tent camping with small kids, we were grateful it was near the bathrooms. For $35 a night (tents) it needs some TLC, general maintenance for appearances and safety. Our sites were small (U9 & U10), hard to find a truly flat spot to accommodate a 2 person tent. Didn't know they had bigger sites along the creek. There was 1 picnic table between the sites - it could do with a scrape & paint. Bring a table cloth if you care about that.

Wonderful place for first time campers - as you're roughing it, but not really. Met some friendly people, a few that return every summer.

My 5 yr old's review - 'camping here is so fun!!!!'

Room Tip: Sites by the creek are quite nice - or not too far from bathrooms if you have small children or a sm...

Cutty's isn't a brand new place, but it was a very charming place. We met my in-laws there, and it was a great place to get the family together. There was no cell phone coverage and no wifi, so no distracting phone calls and the kids couldn't burrow into their devices to surf the web. Instead, we did things together, like play on Cutty's tennis court, play putt-putt golf, swim, and play volleyball. (It would be nice if they had a net up to keep wayward balls out of the creek, but volleyball rescue was pretty hilarious unto itself!) Our folks had an RV site that was creekside, which they enjoyed. It's true that the site was not level, but it was manageable with some boards. The sites are heavily wooded and built all up and down the hill, so there seemed to be more space between you and your neighbors. My husband and I rented one of the creekside cabins, and fell in love with it. These are very new, and were very clean. They are made of thick logs and stayed delightfully cool even when it was hot outside. Being right next to the boisterous creek was a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee. When we first got there, there was a problem with the frig. The owners came out immediately with a replacement frig, and even brought us several bags of ice to use till the replacement's temp came down. We were impressed with their willingness to help. Overall, we are very pleased that we stayed here.

We've been coming to Cutty's for several years and always have a good time. We have stayed in sites with our tent and used the electric hookup. There are other tent campers too, but this year we went in our pop up camper. Again we stayed in a sight along the creek in the letter R section. They have some pictures of the sites posted on their facebook page. We had electric and water hookups. I love that the spaces are within trees and private. (Nothing cookie cutter). There are also cabins here. The employees are so helpful and nice. We love the themed weekends and the events they offer like bingo, breakfast and dinners in the rec hall, the indoor and outdoor pool, the miniature golf course, horseback riding, hiking trails along the creek, basketball, tennis, volleyball, playground, etc. It's all so much fun. My kids love coming here, riding their bikes around, playing with other kids, etc. The bathrooms and showers are clean. The game room could use an update, some games were out of order. The outdoor pool has some chairs but not reclining ones. Some campsite spaces do look like no one has camped there in years, but the staff is very good at helping you pick out the right campsite for your stay. It is a little older and some things are run down, but it's still fun and they seem to be improving something every year. We will continue to return to Cutty's at least once a year and maybe again this fall.

Room Tip: Sites along the creek.
