Poor Central City lacks good restaurants. Rouge was not open for a Sunday matinee, so this is the nicest place to eat near the opera house. The surroundings are classic (the town was built during the silver and gold rush years in the 1870s) but boring. The chairs are uncomfortable. The food is average, mostly sandwiches, fries and kettle chips, with a few salads. The desert menu is odd. The service was also average. I ate here last year before a performance and, besides a few menu changes, it was the same experience with a little better service.
