Alexander Lake Lodge
Reviewed December 24, 2013

Have you ever had anything take your breathe away? This lodge sits at the top of the Grand Mesa with million dollar views. Winter presents a magical winter wonderland where wildlife and nature are at their finest. Hang on! If you don't like snow and the magic of winter, this lodge also sits on the Alexander Lake so both winter and summer fishing is always at it's best.

Here you can choose to stay in the lodge where you will find a huge lobby with an old stone fireplace, restaurant and a library complete with more books you could ever want to read or you can select to stay in one of the many cozy cabins.

It's a place where all your dreams can come true. Don't miss this chance to feel free and let all your worries slide away as you even find that special place to ski.

You may want to reserve this great place for a conference, reunion or your own private get away but whatever you do, don't miss the opportunity to visit a destination location made just for all of us!

Tell them hello from Doug and Mamie!

Room Tip: The lodge or cottage are a great choice. Be sure to try their own sausages for lunch.

Dear Jeannette 5912,
Thank you so muh for you kind words! We are so thrilled that you enjoyed your time with us! Folks are really enjoying the upgrads we have made to our cabins, which as you know now offer 32" flat screen tvs with dvd players as well as Direct TV programming! Our fully contained cabins offer a wonderful alternative to the typical 'hotel' stay. Warm and cozy, with outstanding views, one would be hard pressed to leave here stressed! Anyway, again thank you for taking the time to share of your experiences with us and we certainly hope to see you again, on the Grand Mesa soon!

I read so many bad reviews of cabins on the Western Slope and was a bit trepidatious when making a reservation here, especially with only 2 TA reviews and not many photos or much information on their website. But this place was terrific and I would highly recommend it. My boyfriend and I and our two shepherds stayed for a long weekend in early October. We drove from Denver and arrived on top of the Mesa for the first snow of the season. The fall color was still spectacular. We stayed in Cabin 4, or the Honeymoon Cabin. It has been completely remodeled - the brand new king bed is very comfortable, all of the linens seemed nice and maybe new, the kitchen is equipped to prepare any meal (however note: the fridge and stove are small and the pots and pans and utensils are dated), the heater was so efficient we had to turn the heat down, the water was hot, it has a new flat screen TV and DVD player, and a little sofa that turns into a bed. There was a nice deck with a picnic table and chairs with spectacular views of the lake. We grilled out two nights using the grill on the deck next to the lodge where they are currently working to create a new "beer garden" for the upcoming season. The lodge is really cute - lots of lodge-type decor. The restaurant was not open while we were there (off season - and by the way we were the only guests staying there which was nice!) But I could see if it was open - it would be nice. The dining area looks cozy. There is a lounge area by a big fireplace and a bar. The owners are very accomodating and hospitable - they have owned it for 12 years and you can tell they love the hard work they put into everything. I think the only downside to this place is that it is on the main road and there are 250 private cabins up there and a lot of people go up there snowmobiling which could be loud if you are looking for something quiet.

Room Tip: Cabins 1 and 2 are more secluded. I think they are remodeling all cabins this year. We stayed in C...

Dear "Missing Sun and Sand",

Thank you so much for taking the time to let folks know about your recent stay with us! I'm so glad that you and your husband enjoyed your experience at the lodge! Yes, our remodeling is continuing throughout all of the cabins as you mentioned and we are excited about the addition of new beds, flat screens, and I will be sure to take a look at the cookware you mentioned to see if it could use some updating as well! Thank you for the heads up! We certainly hope that we see you again soon! Safe travels!

The Grand Mesa is a wonderful area to explore the outdoors. We were there in February 2013 for fabulous snowshoeing and cross country skiing. The owners of the Alexander Lake Lodge were the most genuinely hospitable owners. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and informed us of great places to ski.
The best hot buttered rum I've ever had and the best service!!!!!

Room Tip: We loved the 4th floor of the lodge. We had separate bedrooms but shared a bath. Lovely views fr...

Great place for snowmobiling, tours and accommodations at the lodge are great. Andy, the new operator of the place took extra care of us, and gave the best deals on the mountian for the trip. Cabins are in good shape we were able to cook most of our meals in the cabin which is what we like. Totally worth the stay. Go on a snowmobile tour with Andy he makes the trip fun and safe.
