Grand Mesa Lodge
Reviewed March 28, 2014

We were on the last day of a vacation for Spring Break and our plan for snowmobiling fell through. We stopped by Grand Mesa Lodge and they were very accommodating with us to make a last minute plan to snowmobile with them. They made sure we all had the right gear and made us feel right at home. We love the rustic lodge up on the Mesa, the snow was gorgeous since it snowed the day before, and the trails were beautiful! great way to enjoy some back wood snow country! So appreciative they were able to make our last day so enjoyable!

We went to Grand Mesa Lodge for an afternoon of snowmobiling. Initially we were going to go independent, but then decided to join Mike's guided tour. We were apprehensive to join a guided group (even though we are just beginners) because we didn't want to be stuck in a group that went maximum 15 mph for the whole 3 hours--ugh! The group had 7 snowmobiles in it with Mike at the front and another guide bringing up the back.

Would definitely recommend or take the tour again. We had an excellent group and even if there had been some slow people Mike takes you to plenty of areas where you can have at it and go whatever speed you wish.

The necessary accessories are included in the rental i.e. snow boots, helmets, and outer clothing. The machines are well maintained as is the accessories. There is not a restaurant on site, but there is a shop where you can some basic snacks and beverages.

Room Tip: Only went for snowmobiling, but did look at a cabin and it was very cute. Very basic and rustic, but...

Enjoyed our stay! Will be back! We called ahead for reservations and enjoyed the family service and their very friendly dog! If you're coming from out of state, plan to drink lots of WATER! Not other forms of drink. You are at 10,000 feet altitude and will get headaches very quickly.
Wonderful views.

Nice view, nice cabin, nice view, nice dog "Wiley", nice fishing.
Beware of altitude sickness! The lodge and the Grand Mesa are above 10,000 feet, and after 4 years of living at sea level, my wife had a terrible headache and nausea from the altitude (I think that was the problem that the previous reviewer had - the heaters are fine). Cleared up again as soon as we went back down to Grand Junction.
The path to the lake was steep and about 300 yards. The lodge owners were very helpful, and gave us good advice on the local fishing. We caught some brook and rainbow trout.
The cabins were clean, comfortable and warm. They were in good repair, with clean linens.
We rented a boat with motor, which was a great time. Could not ask for more beautiful scenery and a peaceful experience.

I spent the past few days at the Grand Mesa Lodge reconnecting with an old friend whom I had not seen in 30 years. Rose and Mike were fantastic hosts and very helpful as I planned our visit. Rose reserved cabin 7 for us. When we arrived at the lodge this past Thursday they welcomed us with open arms. We could tell immediately we had chosen the right place. The peacefulness and serenity of the cabin, the lodge and our hosts brought a joy and provided a wonderful setting for us after 30 years apart. The cabin had a fireplace which added to the pleasantness of the cool evenings. Thanks Rose for selecting this cabin for our visit, it was wonderful.

I highly recommend the Grand Mesa Lodge. Give Mike and Rose a call or sent an email they will be more than willing to help plan your visit and provide you a joyfull experience in Grand Mesa.

Did a snowmobile tour of the top of the mesa which was amazing. The lodge was unique and the owners were very personable. Enjoyed conversation with other guests who have been there in the other seasons and the views are all amazing. We hope to go back in the summer to rent a boat and fish in the lakes we went sledding over. We loved the rustic comfort of the place and look forward to returning soon!
