Very spacious room and bathroom, nice, clean and quiet. Very big and nice garden to relax. Kangaroos and casuwaris visit this garden, you can see them up close. The very friendly hosts present a kind of breakfast buffet leaving you to choice of combining fruits, yoghurt and toast.

Thank you for your review. Great to see more people from Belgium arriving this year.
Pleased you enjoyed your stay and that you experienced the Cassowary and Wallaby up close.
You were only able to stay one night so hopefully you will be able to stay longer next time in the place we love called Mission Beach.

We had a most relaxing and pleasant stay at Hibiscus Lodge. The owners, Robert and Adrienne, made our stay very comfortable. We enjoyed our evening catchup over drinks, and met a range of interesting and engaging fellow-guests. In addition, Robert and Adrienne made excellent recommendations of sights, restaurants and things to do based on our interests. The bonus was the Cassowary and Wallaby visits each breakfast. Our room was comfortable, the garden peaceful and we enjoyed the venue's facilities. We can highly recommend Hibiscus Lodge as home away from home.

Thank you so much for your review.
We are pleased you enjoyed your relaxing stay and that you enjoyed your breakfast experience with the Wallaby and Cassowary.
You seemed to enjoy your walks to the beach which fortunately for you was only a 5 minute walk away.
Pleased you could walk to the local restaurants with our other guests. You all seem to have a great time.
Look forward to seeing you both again sometime in this magical place called Mission Beach.
Next time we will tell the rainforest animals to be quieter at night

I stayed at Hibiscus Lodge before and after a sea kayaking trip with Coral Sea Kayaking in July. Robert and Adrienne went out of their way to make me feel at home, while at the same time respecting my privacy. Nothing was too much trouble for them, from an early morning checkout (with a delicious home cooked breakfast still provided), and transport to and from the bus stop. Happy Hour on the verandah each evening was just another example of the care and attention they give to their guests to make them feel welcome. The single room (with Queen Bed) was an added bonus ... a decent size, clean and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend Hibiscus Lodge to anyone looking for accommodation in the Mission Beach area. Hope to return again soon.

Thank you Carolyn for showing appreciation regarding the single room facilities we provide at Hibiscus Lodge. Nice to know you felt comfortable and secure.
Not many accommodation houses provide a service to the solo traveller at a reasonable price so we are pleased it was to your liking.
Pleased you enjoyed the happy hour we provide. It does give guests an opportunity to talk to other travellers about their experiences. Most people seem to enjoy it.
Look forward to seeing you again some time in the future in this beautiful place called Mission Beach.
Thank you for being such a great guest.

Where else on the world could you share a breakfast of home-made muffins with cassowaries and wallabies? Lovely hosts who, as I didn't have a car, were only to happy to drive me to and from the coach terminal and also to a pub or restaurant in the evening. Also one of the few places in Australia that actually has a room especially for solo travelers. A relaxing complimentary drink and a chat in the evening was a nice touch. Very highly recommended.

Room Tip: Unusually, has a less expensive room especially for solo travelers.

Thank you David for such a glowing review.
Being a solo traveller without a car we were only too pleased to help with your transport needs around Mission Beach.
We do think that there is a need to assist the solo traveller at a reasonable price especially people from overseas. Pleased you appreciated the service provided.
I think Hibiscus Lodge must be one of the very few B&Bs in the World where you can sit and have breakfast with the Cassowary and Wallaby at the same time. Pleased you found the experience so fascinating .
Look forward to our evening drinks next to you visit Hibiscus Lodge. You will always be welcomed back.

Hibiscus Lodge is a lovely little bed & breakfast run by the warm and very welcoming Robert & Adrienne. A house of great charm located in a tropical setting, it really is a good choice if you want to get away from it all and get up close and personal with nature. You wake to the sound of birds chirping and more than likely spot a wallaby or two during breakfast on the rainforest-facing deck. In terms of amenities you can take a dip in the pool, play croquet on the lawn or have a meander around the rainforest track in the garden where you can spot more wildlife. I particularly enjoyed the chats with our hosts over complimentary drinks on the deck in the early evening and the wonderful breakfasts that Adrienne provided. Many thanks to both Robert and Adrienne for making our stay so relaxed and enjoyable and for their help in finding us good accommodation for the next leg of our trip to Cairns.

Room Tip: There are 3 rooms with en-suite and all on a par with each other.

The house is in a quiet location. The guest rooms don't back onto each other so they are private. Gardens were gorgeous. It was nice having a drink in the afternoon with Robert and Adrienne, before heading out for dinner. They have a visiting cassowary, first one we have seen in the wild.

We stayed at Hibiscus Lodge for 6 nights at the end of May during a three and half week trip to Sydney, Mission Beach, the Atherton Tablelands and the Port Douglas/Mossman area. During this time we stayed at 5 different B&Bs/hotels and have to say that both my girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Hibiscus Lodge the most.

We received a warm welcome and after a tour of the grounds we knew we had made the right choice. We stayed in the Hibiscus room which is the largest of the rooms and has lovely views over the large front garden from where we could see many amazing birds, butterflies, wallabies and cassowaries roaming the grounds in the morning and late afternoon.

The bird alarm clock (kookaburras, cockatoos etc) was a lovely way to wake up and following this was breakfast on the verandah overlooking the lovely back garden where there are wallabies and cassowaries foraging whilst you ate. The breakfast itself was a real treat with cereal, fruit salad, toast as well as different muffins each day. We also enjoyed having a complimentary cold beer or nice glass of wine on the verandah with Robert and Adrienne and other guests in the early evening before heading out to one of the restaurants in the area (Spicy Thai Hut was our favourite and up there with some of the best food we had on our holiday, plus it’s within easy walking distance). The B&B is also very close to the beach and Woolworths grocery store (about 1 minute drive to both).

Robert and Adrienne are genuinely nice people who gave good advice about the area and also assisted with our activity bookings. Adrienne also offered to take me to see their next door neighbours who are injured wildlife carers and were looking after a number of wallaby joey’s that were in different stages of recovery. Getting to hold a joey was a nice touch and you could tell that they were lovely people doing an exceptional job in how to correctly care for and release injured wildlife.

Overall we are very glad we chose this B&B to stay in over others in the area and if you like wildlife you will not be disappointed, especially as we saw Cassowaries roaming around at least once a day whilst we were there. If you want a relaxing place to stay in beautiful surroundings then this is the place to choose.
