“Relaxing and private”
Reviewed January 12, 2011

We stayed here and loved it. The four cottages are in a very private setting, and because there are only 4, it is always quiet and we had the pool mostly to ourselves despite the fact that all chalets were occupied. The beautiful beach is on the other side of the road, through a small park.
Having a car is recommended because of the distance to the Woolworths and other shops.
A couple of nice restaurants are in short walking distance.
The chalet has a small benchtop cooker, a microwave, skillet and the BBQ outside is what we used most.
The free WIFI is handy.
We shared our chalet with our teenage children who slept on rollaway beds and that worked out well. There was enough space.
The hosts are friendly and have attention to detail.
We certainly recommend Mission Beach Shores.

We stayed in 2 chalets with our extended family and found it ideal for our needs. We especially enjoyed having the pool so close, meaning it wasn't a huge event to get the kids down to the pool and back. Lush landscaping gives the complex a cool and natural feel, very different to the concrete-heavy apartments elsewhere in Mission Beach. There were fantastic birds all around our chalet. Location was reasonable, being located across a quiet street from the beach. However, Mission Beach is very spread out and you really need a car if staying here. Within walking distance are a couple of restaurants, caravan park with small shop, and playground. We loved the outdoor sitting area with big daybed, tables and chairs. This is where we spent most of our time, reading books aloud to the kids or just visiting. We also appreciated the free wi-fi. The interior of the chalet was roomy and well laid out. Our only complaints were (1) the servery from the kitchenette to outside had a gap which we had to plug with a towel to keep mosquitoes outside and (2) the windows all have wooden louvres, so if you run the air con the inside of the chalet is completely without natural light -- very dark and dreary. Overall a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay, although the furnishings are getting worn around the edges and appear to be reaching their replacement date.

We had 5 nights here and loved every minute. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, our room was spacious and very clean. Loved the private outdoor areas and surrounding gardens. Straight across the road to beach...could hear the ocean from our room. Loved the privacy and the area is lovely.

Lovely self contained cottages set in tropical gardens in Wongaling Beach. The cottages are in top decorative condition and have been fitted out with loving attention to detail in a Balinese style.

Our studio cottage (Cuttlefish Cove) had a very comfortable king size bed, small kitchenette area (fridge, hob, microwave, all kitchen utensils etc), a day bed, small desk and chair, satellite TV, free wi-fi, fruit basket, nice bathroom (good shower) and a lovely outside area with table, another day bed and sun lounger. There is also a barbecue provided with each cottage. Lots of storage space for clothes and luggage. Shared wash/dry facilities (bring $1 coins!) and a nice pool area shared by the four cottages. The cottages are far enough apart that you don't really notice the other guests, and the beach is the other side of the road (minimal traffic and not disturbing while we were there).

Mike and Marie are very friendly and welcoming hosts. They are not located on the premises but there is a free phone line and they are only a few minutes away if there are any problems. The longer-stay rates in particular are good value for money.

We were very happy with this accommodation choice. There are only four bungalows and the lay out is such that visual privacy is assured. Sitting outside you may be able to hear occupants of the other bungalows but the area overall is very quiet. The landscaping and pool area are charming and there is private parking directly in front (definitely recommend a car). Mission beach is a far more low-key destination than Port Douglas – we spent time in both on our holiday so we got a nice balance. Mission Beach was great for long walks, enjoying nature and the sea and Mission Beach Shores was perfect to come back to at the end of the day. Facilities were fine for cooking breakfasts and the outdoor electric grill was perfect for BBQs. The king-size bed was comfortable and the bathroom and indoor living area pleasant.

We stayed for one night at Mission Beach Shores Bungalows. Tea and coffee was provided and there was a huge jug of ice cold water for us (which was very welcome!) in the fridge and fruit and cereal bars were provided. The bungalow was immaculate, well equipped and very comfortable. The bed was huge - I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillows! The saltwater pool isn't huge but was sufficient for cooling off in the afternoon when it was very humid. It was a short stroll to a couple of small restaurants. We are getting married in Mission Beach in November and I have recommended this place to friends and family. I would say it was a tiny bit over-priced but would stay here again.
